I assumed his dad was Bill Russell.

There's a great documentary on Bing Russell's experience as a baseball owner; The Battled Bastards of Baseball.

He is definitely one of my favorites.
Even in crappy movies, I always enjoy his part.

He is a very versatile actor.

The Thing and Used Cars are probably my favorites that he's in, and they are worlds apart from each other.

Surely as one of the best. Last movie I saw him in was Bone Tamahawk. Will be watching again near Halloween time.

I loved his character in "The Best of Times"...

And as previously mentioned the doc about his dad "Battered Bastards of Baseball" is awesome. Apparently Kurt was pretty good baseball player.

Great! But I will warn you that there is one scene that you will wish you had turned your head on to look away.

"Yessir, the check is in the mail."

I would rank Kurt Russell as one of the top "popular" actors in history. Hardly anyone dislikes him. He can play practically any role, and come across credible. He's been everything on screen, from intimidating hero to utter buffoon, and people love him.

He's not a critic's actor. He's an actor for the people. That's why I say he's a "popular" actor. Not in terms of popular approval, though he does have that, too. He makes movies for audiences. He gets that, and he uses that, as effectively as any actor has.
