Anyone catch this one? Just red boxed it last night. Disappointed. It got high reviews from critics, I don't know why. Nothing ever really happened, the sound was terrible, the lighting was too dark to see half of what happened during the night scenes. At no point did it seem scary. Other than that, great movie! (Sarcasm).

Pretty good flick. Liked it a lot though I was worried it would lead to the same contrived evil puritans no such thing as a witch bullshite
Witches scare me
Witches scare me

I mean, really? It's OK if you didn't like it (I did. I found it very unsettling, with very good cinematography, score acting and production values). But this statement is really dumb.

I thought it was pretty good. I usually enjoy when someone tries to make something that I haven't seen before even when it's not perfect. It Follows was another one I liked because of it's originality.

Ralph Ineson nailed that role, cab't believe that's the same guy who plays the Todd Packer-equivalent character on the British version of The Office.

i'm coming to post that i missed this in theaters but now that it's on redbox i'm going to watch soon
i anticipate that my high expectations will not be met and i'll have to decide if i want to act like the art house-ness has a deep meaning and i appreciate it more than i actually do. i feel it's going to be one of those movies

My only gripe was the dialogue was tough to hear sometimes, but was a good movie regardless

I actually watched it with subtitles on.

its not even that artsy
its pretty straight forward, if not heavy handed with its message

Good call, I should have done that, it was part of the problem, particularly with the old English.
Acting was good, setting was good, I'm just not buying the plot. No, I didn't think anything of substance happened. The parents were hypocrites, reap what you sow, fine. But the daughter is more or less a good person throughout the movie, then just casually decides to go to the ultimate dark side at the end? Okay.

I went in with the same concerns and felt impressed.
Believe it or not, the allegory/metaphors are so obvious that it's not arthouse type of flick at all.
It was really well done and really accessible if you want to use that term.

Pectus, did you watch in a theater and if so was it easier to hear the lines?

I can see how this would be an issue.
I may have added to the tone of the film, but I have to say that after like 2 minutes on the farm I cheated and watched with captions.
In case you were wondering, I didn't need the subtitles for the kids' song 'Black Phillip'.

If only they could have added some characters in funny costumes crashing into buildings and saving the planet from a giant energy beam from outer space...
