If you were considering moving back to Louisiana...where?

Where would you consider moving to and why? Are there any areas that have decent schools, low crime, and realistic home/land prices?
TIA
TIA

Not compared to what you are used to.

I am serious when asking this. Is there such a place in the state?

Nowhere. I enjoy living in a larger city and that just doesn't exist in LA.

Natchitoches or Ruston if you can find a job in town or within commuting distance. Both small, quiet, but college towns so the populace is better educated and there's more going on than an average small town. For a long time Ruston had the lowest unemployment rate in the state, and it may still, I haven't checked lately.

Depends on your industry obviously...but I love the Lafayette/Acadiana area, and South Lafayette in the Youngsville/Broussard area is great. Plenty of new construction plus land...right next door to all the retail you could ever want in the most booming part of Lafayette, and really solid public schools with a new high school about to be built making it the first one in the area in like 40 years.
Been in Lafayette since moving here for USL in 1988 and built in Youngsville in 2004. Really like it.

Lafayette. Other than that I'll pass on LA

I would slap myself and realize that would be a bad decision.

I believe this is still true. If I'm not mistaken it is also the wealthiest large town per capita by a pretty wide margin as well.

Nowhere...
I miss many things about Louisiana but not enough to move back and have a decreased quality of life for me and my family.

I was born at Lane Memorial Hospital there in Zachary in 1976, lived there for much of my life. I have lived in Texas for a while but would certainly consider moving back to Zachary.

You really don't know if there's anywhere in Louisiana with low crime? Seriously?

TBH, words like booming, growth, new construction aren't words I associate with an area I would want to live in. It's a Catch 22, because you need economic activity to have a viable lifestyle, but I don't want to live in a damn subdivision next to every other swinging dick with an SUV and a kid playing travel ball.

Not that hard really....look for the area with the highest percentage of Republicans or Independents registered voters and the lowest percentage of democrats.

Want to or have to?
The only places I would consider are Lafayette and Covington/Mandeville. I lived in both before I left (seemingly for good but you never know), and I grew up in Baton Rouge (which I would never move back to). I MIGHT consider something in Ascension Parish though. Might. Would have to be a pretty big benefit job wise.

Let's be honest though this is compared to the rest of the state and not compared to most Texas City/Towns/Burbs. While I agree that the Lafayette Parish School District is the best top to bottom in the state it still pales in comparison to most ISD's in Texas.
I have two in LP schools, live and work in the Broussard/Youngsville area. The above is not a slight in the least bit, but if I were offered similar money to go to McKinney/Allen/Frisco/Waco/Austin/San Marcos.... I would have a Penske truck at my house as soon as I accepted the offer sheet.

Or decent schools or overpriced real estate...
I get that there are tons of places as good or better to live than Louisiana, but to say such an idiotic thing about almost anywhere is just beyond obnoxious.

Add the public school factor. I love the state of Louisiana and love visiting the in laws at Lacombe....probably around that area would fit that criteria.
