Aussies are legendary for their ability to handle massive quantites of beer. I think they will be OK.

Hey, it's 4848 Constitution drive. I presume cabs to and from are easy to organise??

Ah, yes, that's a nice one. President Obama actually stayed there a month or so ago.

There's not too much within walking distance around that area, and I really wouldn't recommend walking around there, but I'd recommend Uber - and get to campus early. Ubers and cabs will be harder to get ahold of as kickoff time draws near.

I just want somewhere decent to drop the car and get to the stadium ASAP and get drinking!!!

Once its safe and clean!

There isn't a great selection in BR to stay!

Excited though, I've wanted to travel for a game for a long time!

I'm headed to your beautiful country three weeks from today. Staying at the Marriott Sydney Harbour at Circular Quay--a great place to see all the Vivid Sydney light shows!

Regarding your question, "where to buy LSU clothes/stuff": Walmart on College Drive has a ton of LSU stuff, and it's cheap -- about 1/2 of the price of the same stuff at the LSU Bookstore. The Bookstore is on campus and fun to go for "people watching" on gameday. Someone else suggested you buy your gear ahead of time -- this is good advice. Have fun on game day!

You already said you're Australian.

Really just walk around to all the tents that are cooking (which is most of them) and strike up a conversation. Almost everyone will feed people, especially a foreigner at their first LSU game.

As to where to sit, there's not really any bad seats. However, if it's a day/afternoon start I'd avoid the East side: you have the sun in your eyes at the beginning and sometimes it's still pretty hot at that time of year.

Afterwards, The Chimes is usually fun. It's right off campus and has a good beer selection from around the world. Plus the food is good if you're still hungry after the game.

Go to Reggies after the game

Mid-30s people should go to Reggies under no circumstances. That bar along with the rest of Tigerland is a cesspool.

wearing so Australian rugby league jerseys

I think this would be much better than wearing Purple and Gold. I know you want to wear our colors and support us...and it can be safe wearing Purple and Gold because they won't Tiger Bait you like they will the other team. But if you're wearing a Rugby Jersey, plus people hear your accent when you walk up to them, just tell them where you're from and you've heard so much about LSU Tailgating you had to see it for yourself. People will treat you better than their own. Who are we playing the day you're coming in? If it's a rent a win, then nobody would care what you're wearing anyway...but if it's Bama or Ole Miss, then don't wear those colors unless you want to hear a never ending chorus of Tiger Bait and have drinks thrown at you instead of handed to you. You'll have a great time...

Geez my initial search of accommodation is scary, already very booked up, might have to stay 15mins out from Downtown

Look on AirBnB too, you might be able to find someone's house/apartment to rent. There's a bus that runs from downtown to campus so anything in Spanish Town or Beauregard Town will be within walking distance of the bus and the downtown bars after the game. Uber is super expensive on game days with surge pricing.

Yeah I think I'm gonna go with some sort of Aussie shirt and a LSU cap.

Game we're coming for is LSU v Missouri. Any colours we should avoid?

Thanks for the tips

Sounds like we won't have any problems mixing it up with the tailgates, we'll just say hi and marvel at what they're cooking!

Regarding the game, when do they announce the kick off time? I think at this stage they all say TBA

I signed in just to reiterate the fun you're going to have. This thread and the replys are nothing compared to how people are going to treat you if you're not a drunken arse. PACE YOURSELF, because a lot of people are going to be going out of their way to F you up (in a good way)

If you're looking for ladies, personify the stereotype (thick accent, essentially). Like said, girls eat it up and you would just have to be hideous or disfigured to not meet and have fun w extremely sexy southern girls.

And wearing a rugby jersey w a LSU hat would be beast, but like said could be light jacket weather if you're soft.

Also, at tailgates, tell everyone how you heard Alabama Crimson tide fans are all inbred.

Get ready to meet some of the cheekiest counts in the south!
