Skip was more than a great baseball coach. Some forget all the things he did to get people into the old Box. I remember the San Diego Chicken coming to BR a few times, the used car give aways, the family plan season passes, and the golden arches light in center field...if a home run was hit while it was on, everyone could win a free Big Mac. He was a great marketing exec too!
A little of topic...
The first MLB draft was held in 1965. The first player selected was Rick Monday by the Kansas City Athletics.
Yes, besides what is listed above, Southern's field does not drain nearly as well.
How about some incredibly stupid peta quotes?

Pet ownership is an "absolutely abysmal situation brought about by human manipulation."
-Ingrid Newkirk, PETA

Six million Jews died in concentration camps, but six billion broiler chickens will die this year in slaughter houses.
-Ingrid Newkirk (PETA)

The smallest form of life, even an ant or a clam, is equal to a human being.

We feel animals have the same rights as a retarded human child.

On leather jackets: That's the next step. You have to take one step at a time. It was easier to start with fur.

"One day we would like an end to pet shops and the breeding of animals.

Bring some VB ale. All (most) Americans know is the Fosters crap.
Sportscenter (Stan Verrett) mentioned yesterday that when Nola throws his curveball, hitters have a .059 batting average (against his curveball) so far this year.

Could you be talking about Leroy? He is the "two out rally" guy.

Happened a little while ago. Running from 3B into the outfield, makes an over the shoulder catch... then wheels around to make a great throw to home to nail the runner. SCPOD?

I am sure that Lyn is a great guy, but for some reason, his voice really irritates me.

Cox BR ESPNU & other channels out

Posted by kk53 on 10/4/15 at 11:50 am
I live near Webb Park, College & Foster Dr. Did anyone else in BR have problems receiving ESPNU for the LSU game yesterday on Cox cable? Other channels including ESPNU in the 1200's on Cox are still out now on Sunday. Just trying to find out if there are others out there. Thanks!

A few peta quotes, and why you should hate them too...

Never buy wool again. Choose only cotton, synthetics and other non-animal
fibers. The sheep are embarrassed when they are shorn, sometimes they are
nicked during the process, and they get cold afterward.

I would pull for them. In Omaha, in 2000, most Tiger fans did, though we were in different brackets. Both teams even shared the same hotel. Mutual respect back then from both fans and players from both teams.
I would think that Rollins is a decent guy, but his voice is obnoxious. Please, not Lynn!
I will never pull for tooLame. Remember the SR at Zephyr in 2001. The weenies required a "donation" to their athletic fund just to buy a ticket(after season ticket holders). Screw the green scum.

Let's go Seahawks!

re: Old Box vs. New Box

Posted by kk53 on 3/28/15 at 11:30 am to
The bleachers down the left and right field lines were closer to the field. Section L1 gave the opposing 3B coach a lot of grief in the Old Box. Section L2 dished out the grief to the opposing bullpen. Leroy's voice carried much further in the Old Box as well.

The new Box seems a bit reserved. Yeah, it was necessary to build the New Box to continue to recruit quality players, but as far as atmosphere is concerned...I would take the Old Box over the New Box any day of the week.
That sign for #3 resulted in someone getting shot in the movie Inglorious Bastards. Germans?
