Who was a better player at LSU? Laird or Stevenson and who do y'all think will have a better chance at making it to the bigs?

I'll go with Stevenson on both counts.

Laird was much more consistent at the plate than Stevie, and the difference in their defense was negligible at best.

That said, Stevenson projects as a much better hitter at the professional level. They both have shite arms.

He was? I mean I know Stevenson struggled mightily as a freshman but he had better soph. and junior years at the plate than Laird.

Not even close. Stevenson is a MUCH better defensive outfielder.

Stevenson was expected to be good though. Laird was a bit of a surprise

Better player at LSU is difficult. Andrew has best chance to have a big league career for multiple reasons. Money invested him drafted in the 2nd round, his ability to get on base and steal bases (although he has 4 pickoffs already this season). He seems to have replicated his swing, as he's hitting in the mid .300s so far this season in A advanced. His defense is also slightly better than Marks, so he has the advantage there. Mark is a slap hitter who could make a very good 4th outfielder/defensive replacement/pinch runner at the next level. He was not assigned to a full season team this April yet.

Stevenson

Yes, he had a slower start early on, but he turned it on. His best was slightly better than Laird IMO.

Sure, but I remember that Stevenson had many, many more amazing plays. I also know that Stevenson's arm is better.

That was laird. And I think Edwards was in right. He didn't fall down but just lost the ball. Does anyone have that gif? Was an amazing play

You can't say he was a MUCH better fielder than laird. Both were amazing outfielders that we had the pleasure to see make many great catches

Sure I can. Both were as solid as you can hope, but Stevenson made more wow plays and has a stronger arm.

Andrew Stevenson had more power, speed, and defensive capabilities than Mark. And was a better hitter for contact at the end of his career.

This is right. He had 4 career home runs. Mark had 2. He's twice as powerful as Mark.

While Laird made some nice plays, there was a point I remember Stevenson wowing us for weeks in the field.

He really went out and made some insane catches.

Stevenson batted .335 and .348 in his soph and junior seasons.

Laird was .291 and .323 in his soph and junior season.

Stevenson just didn't have a good freshman season, but he was also a year younger than Laird as a freshman I believe. Not that a year difference should matter much, but once Stevenson changed his approach and got accustomed to the next level he was a serious player for LSU. Laird was a great contributor. I just feel like Stevenson was an even bigger impact on the games.

Also, not that it matters when referring to who was better at LSU, but it does appear Stevenson has been better in the minors as well.
