Lillard are miles better
Then you have guys like Lowry, Bledsoe, Kyrie, Conley who have proven more and are arguably better too.
Thats exactly our pitch. Especially with his injuries in the past. Thats why he won't get ridiculous money. We have the chance to get him on a great value just based on his peers. Look at the current year contracts for PGs:
CP3 - $21MM
Rose - $20MM
Westbrook - $17MM
Irving - $16MM
Wall - $16MM
Bledsoe - $14MM
Lowry - $12MM
Curry - $11MM
Holiday $11MM
Conley - $10MM
Obviously, his worth will be determined alot based on his play/injury status next year, but even with the contracts going up, he still will probably only get $15MM-$17MM. I would absolutely pay him that. Because there are so many other great PGs in the league right now, you get to pay him a good bit less than that top teir, but when healthy he isn't far behind them on the court.

Curry's last two years have to be the best dollar/contract for a team owner ever.

If we win the lottery, and draft a wing, than I think we should hold onto Jrue, assuming he is healthy next year.
If we draft at 6/7 and take Dunn/Murray, than I think moving Jrue is in play.
I agree if we hit on Simmions or Ingram we need yo keep Jrue. He gets to fill his role as the 3rd guy and I wouldn't mind paying him and would be a great fit.

I think you have a fundamental misunderstanding of how much the cap is going to jump.
Even at $20M next year and beyond, that is nowhere close to a max on a $108M cap.
That said, giving Holiday $20+M with his injury history and this medical staff is somewhat risky. The injuries and his expiring contract will also deflate his trade value, if they even want to move him. 65 games with half of them on a minutes restriction is promising, but not exactly an all clear.
All of this applies to Evans too. The time to move either guy for any return was this past season. Maybe someone gets desperate this summer, but I doubt it.
And, shite, bringing Gordon and Anderson back is still in play for this team. That happens, time to bring back OG Pierre and let him purge the organization

You couldn't have asked this in your other jrue thread?
Posted on 4/19/16 at 10:45 am to 504ByrdGang
Lots of stupidity in this thread. We have a guard that gets ad the ball and plays good to great defense. But compare him to Kawhi and Green (two wings btw) and yeah maybe he's not that good haha.
The argument of AD Jrue and Ryno not being good enough to make the playoffs falls on Ryan Anderson more than anything. He was hot and cold all year and played zero defense.
The true problem this team has is zero direction from the front office. We have a bunch of injured players that don't fit our coaches scheme.
But let's trade our second best player. That'll make us better!

I don't think Evans is worth trading he has no value and can help us win to keep AD happy. As for Jrue I think Jazz, Bucks, and Kings will all be willing to make a decent deal for him. Teams who have their young guys set or who are thirsty for the playoffs

This thread is another stealth I like Evans more then Jrue thread isn't it?

TBW has an article on available FA wings and for me it's pretty much Batum or bust. LINK Barnes hasn't shown he can handle the expanded role we'd ask of him and everyone else is either too small (Bazemore), too limited and unproven to be worth the overpay it'd take to get them(Crabbe), or too much injury history (Parsons). Tyreke might be the closest Gentry gets to the playmaking 6'7 wing unless he can sweet talk Batum with visions of Grant Hill and MVP consideration.

And unfortunately I think Batum is highly unlikely to land here.

It is
If we keep Frazier, than you have 3 guys who can run the point. But the issue is only one can play off ball as far as we know (Jrue)
Tyreke: who's best season was arguably this year.
30MPG, 15.2/5.2/6.6; shooting 43.3/38.8/79.6 and 2.9 TOV
Jrue: best season was his 1st year with us.
34MPG, 14.3/4.2/7.0; shooting 44.7/39.0/81.0 and 3.1 TOV
Frazier: only season with us
29MPG (16 games), 13.1/4.4/7.5; shooting 45.0/41.9/76.3 and 2.4 TOV
See the issue is we have a franchise player who can be very dominant and efficient if you feed him properly. Issue is right now only one guy has shown to be able to do that efficiently in his whole tenure here and his name is Jrue Holiday.
Tyreke has shown multiple times he is unable to be the lead guy and have the system run through AD. Frazier hasn't been given time to do it.
Jrue has also shown to be the best defender of the 3.
If we're going to trade Jrue, we have to be able to find or get back a player who can do his job or use the money or assets we get for him to upgrade somewhere else (i.e. SG or SF).
Now the question becomes who do you get if you kick him for future space.
Going into the 2017 free agency class, you'll have Tyreke, Jrue as free agents.
Free Agents:
PGs:
Rose
Westbrook
Curry
Hill
Teague
Collison
Mills
Burke (RFA)
MCW (RFA)
Schroder (RFA)
Lin
SGs:
DeRozan
Afflalo
Redick
Oladipo (RFA)
Meeks
Allen
Korver
Smith
McLemore (RFA)
Sefolosha
KCP (RFA)
McCollum (RFA)
Johnson
SFs:
Chandler Parsons
Andre Iguodala
Otto Porter Jr (RFA)
PJ Tucker
Shabazz Muhammad (RFA)
Giannis (RFA)
not much to pick from and realistically you might be better off giving Jrue the contract. You could possibly end up with Teague I guess, but that's a wash of an upgrade or a lateral move.

Where? Let Tyreke walk at 2017, he adds wins to keep AD happy, will help the transition for a guy like Dunn, has no trade value for a reason to even trade him. For Jrue we can get McLemore and 8 or a guy like Burks to assets we can build on. For Tyreke we can get a late first.

Same way the warriors did with Ellis and turned their franchise around.

Ellis was a small part of what turned that franchise around. Blindly falling into a cheap MVP has a LOT more to do with it.

They chose Curry over Ellis to move away from a crowded backcourt. Then they drafted well, Barnes, Draymond and Ezeli all in the same draft.
Similarly we could make a choice between Holiday and Evans and then draft well and become instant contenders after firing our coach. The problem isn't where we are now, it's not being able to trust who's driving.
Posted on 4/19/16 at 11:51 am to 504ByrdGang
That's a big reach even for you.
Ellis needed to be traded. He's a totally different player than Holiday. You aren't winning with Ellis as the top dog, and that's what he wants to be.

Right Dell seems to be on a mission to prove his moves were right so I don't see him taking this chance. On the other side all this Jure being untouchable isn't true. He was called about from the Jazz but the price was too high. I also feel that the major trade that was supposed to go down with the Bucks were surrounding Jrue.
