CPA exam/ license...

So I finally got my CPA license (met all requirements + received license #). In retrospect, it was a struggle and I didn't pass it on my first time. Took it several times and always remembered all the work I put into it and all the complaining I did. I always thought, who the hell made this exam so long and difficult.
But seriously... feels dam good to finally have it at last.
EDIT: I realize my original post was really douchey. My advice to all the CPA candidates is to keep trying and keep your head up high. I took many parts multiple time before passing. Keep your dreams and hopes alive and each time you fail, go the bar get hammered and keep at it until you pass. Your day WILL be coming.

Now, time to actually see if you're worth a shite. Compliance at that mom n pop outfit ain't gonna cut it.

The cpa exam was made easier recently bc the demand for CPAs is so high. Look at the pass rates they're much higher than they used to be. You probably wouldn't have passed at all 10 years ago.

Dang.. no idea why I am getting so many thumbs down. 4 down and I upvoted myself. Christ
Anyway, I agree that real world is different that we prove ourselves with our work.

A real CPA doesn't have time to post on the OT 2 days before the IRS deadline

So if the requirements were harder, you wouldn't have passed? Great theory kimosabe.
A lot of people have trouble with it. I only know one person who passed everything the first time

Just pulling that ladder up right behind you I see.

your position isn't about protecting your field. If it was then you wouldn't want it harder for everyone besides yourself.

Congrats, welcome to the club.
The exam us being changed next April to less Mc and more Sims. Sooo I'd consider it getting harder.

I believe that CPAs and other high level professions need to protect their field. If I had a chance to lobby the CPA makers, I would tell them to add a 5th or 6th exam and add more material and less time to pass. Protecting the field is the key to a good profession.
Protect it all you want, computers and software will do much of the work in the future.
Just need a select few to write the programs.

It was easier than the bar, IMO.

don't take this the wrong way, but i really hope you are out of a job soon because we've thrown the convoluted tax code out the window.

well, congrats to you on passing the exam! when it is all said and done, that will be one of your lifetime achievements.
I personally don't see any of the professional exams to be much other than protectionism to drive up the salaries in the profession, but the system in place works pretty well...and you have now cleared the hurdle!

How much more difficult should it be? The pass rate is already below 50%.

Yep, I do realize that.. changed few things on my posts

How thoughtful. You do realize that not all CPAs work in tax right?

All CPAs don't practice tax
