Dorm question for current LSU students.

Son is starting LSU in the fall. I've said he has to live on campus for at least his first year because I think it would be good for him (small town kid). He's looking at the 2 dorms in the horseshoe (Boyd and Greg I believe). I lived in Kirby in my time at LSU so I know he should avoid that shithole like the plague. Mainly looking for a dorm that has a suite bathroom setup and both of these do. Any recommendations are appreciated.

I mean this in the nicest way possible. I'm honestly not trying to be a dick.

What about Power Dorm? That still exist? It wasn't anything great but it sufficed for a semester.

Ehh. I get where you're coming from but each dorm provides a different experience and most small town kids won't have any idea.
What's his major? Does he like to party, or is he more of a homebody? If he likes to party he should live in Herget or the BRC.

Get him in a Co-Ed dorm so he can slay some slags.

Power and McVoy got torn down in the 90s when I was there, IIRC.

The horseshoe is also shite. The dorms around Highland rd are better, especially the ones directly around the 459 diner. And I would say that a suite bathroom sounds nice, but a community bathroom is much better in effect bc the community bathroom is cleaned every day by the janitorial staff, while a suite bathroom will never see a toilet brush

Let him move off campus to El Cid. These newer nicer dorms are making students soft.

McVoy was still there in 2010...it was crappy and run down but still there

Blake was renovated in 2007 and I was one of the first ones to move in 2008. It was nice and right accross the parking lot from the 459. I know the 1st floor had suite bathrooms but the 4th floor didn't. don't know about the 2nd and 3rd floor.

My niece got stuck with a real slut as a roommate her first semester at Kirby. The girl brought guys back to the room almost every night. It was the semester from hell.

Herget is the best dorm. No question.

Pre-med. He's social but extremely serious about his studies.

The frick??? He knows I post here and asked me to start the thread. What's wrong with getting some first hand info before he makes a decision?

He's hoping to get something close to the science complexes (Williams, Chopin, Life Science)

1. Why didn't he just make an account?
2. It's nice that you share message board advice from the OT with your children. We are always so wise and thoughtful

Am I the only one that loved living in dorm high-rise? I did for all 4 years of college.

if he is from a small town and not many if any of his high school friends are coming to LSU, he may want to do fall rush as well.

My phone contacts isn't overflowing with current LSU students so against my better judgement this seemed like a viable option.
