Anyone know much about where the bass are in the LSU lakes? And what they mostly bite on??

In my 4 years at LSU I've never seen any of the people along the lakes reel one in.

I'm not sure about the bass, but I can tell you how to reel in a beaver or two near those lakes.

I remember someone catching a 10lb+ but not where. This was quite a while back.

There used to be trophy bass in the lakes but they have become much too silted in to support good fish.

About 4 or 5 years ago, I caught 14 walking the banks from the beach to Sorority row. Always did best in Feb and March. Small spinnerbait. Haven't been in a few years. Largest I caught was about 3 pounds.

Don't waste your time. I would go to the Cottages and throw a frog along the bank of the middle lake. You can also throw a Texas rig in the middle towards the fountains and do decent. I've pulled a couple 3+ out of there.

Gotta find the old canal that runs thru the lake. I've always said I was going to put in just to troll around and find where it gets deeper but I've never done it, only heard others talk about it.

I almost caught an 8 near West Lakeshore Drive, but she was running too fast.

Follow this advice. Back in the 1980's, they planned to dredge the entire lake. They used the dredged material to build that park across the lake from the TKE house. They ran out of money and stopped dredging at that point so the water is deeper on the beach end of the lake.

Fished there before and caught a couple 2 pounders. Went to the Cottages last Thursday and caught a 4 1/2 pounder on a watermelon seed senko.
