which one? don't remember. there were some pretty cool split-diopter shots scattered about, which is a technique you don't see much anymore

ah, yes. i forgot about that. it was terrible and gratuitous

QT is guilty of self-indulgence and pandering in his 2 most recent offerings, and i'm his biggest defender. his technical savvy and production value are still top notch, though. I will still go see anything he touches

The cock sucking flashback. We get in Quentin. You think your edgy. You think you're being politically astute. I don't care. The story is completely out of place and unwarranted. Like the breathe fogging up the screen in The Revenant.

Tarontino's Narration: just awful. It was painfully obvious that it was in an adr studio and it didn't fit into the movie's narrative and it sounded like shite.

The puking scene was just over the top. I don't know if we were supposed to be rolling out of our chair with how funny it was but that's the way the sc

Agree with you but it didn't ruin the movie for me. Tarantino's narration felt horribly out of place

Hateful Eight was a fairly decent movie, but there's no fricking way that movie is better than Inglourious Basterds, Django Unchained, Jackie Brown, or Reservoir Dogs. Not a shot.

Jackie Brown is criminally underrated. Robert Forster was incredible.

I'd go:

Jackie Brown 1A ...Basterds 1B

Then a pretty big drop off til Django
Then a HUGE cliff and you get Hateful Eight

It's a self indulgent, bad play......he needs an editor in the worst way lately.

It was underrated for so long that it is on the swing now where it's overrated

Django Unchained was garbage so without having seen this, I'm sure it's better. Props to QT for recognizing a talent in my boy Walton Goggins.

The epitome of self indulgence. Sure it had interesting dialogue typical of any Tarantino film but at the expense of acceptable pace. It is ridiculously slow. And, while I admit the title does hint or even concede this, there is no protagonist for the audience to root for, making it extremely anticlimactic and suspenseless, which is not the case with any of his other movies. Mildly entertaining on a long, rainy day, with nothing else to do.

I agree with this. It was in interesting story but one you don't really care about once it's all said and done

I loved not knowing who to root for. You were trying to figure out who you could or couldn't trust, just like the people on screen. It drew me in.

Probably the scene where Daisy is playing the guitar. Every time she looked at what was going on behind her, the camera focused on the background. When she returned her focus to the guitar, the camera focused on her. I liked the effect.

Middle of the road for me not close to his best. Like someone else said, opening half was great, kind of bogged down towards the end I think and in the end I just didn't care about the characters as much.

And that's all that counts on this board.

Great movie. So polarizing because of the scenes that just dragged on. Beautiful scenery and landscape. I enjoyed it the first watch but I know that the landscape filler will aggravate me on a re-watch.

I thought it was very good up until the last chapter.
