There should be a breakdown for what you paid for the boat hull, the motor and the trailer. I went downtown to the dept of Revenue and paid state taxes first and then went to pay local taxes at the governmental building i=on St. Louis. Once all that is done go to LDW on Quailrun to register your boat. Much easier doing it all in person.

You're going to pay:

DMV - Trailer taxes - need bill of sale with trailer value
Dept. of Revenue - Boat and Motor State taxes - need bill of sale with boat and motor value
Parish Tax Office - Boat and Motor Parish taxes - need bill of sale with boat and motor value

You can put the boat in the water technically once you've applied for registration. Keep the yellow paper in your boat at all times and be able to produce it if you are stopped on the water.

No doubt. Their phone system sucks. Just go to the LDR in Baton Rouge or New Orleans. The NOLA one is NOT appointment only anymore. They're actually pretty helpful. Bring your invoice and bill of sale.

Anyone know if I can go to the Dept of Revenue location on United Plaza Blvd off Essen? Would prefer not to drive downtown.
