Let's face it, when Saban left, there wasn't one person who initially could have predicted that Les Miles would become the next coach at LSU. So if he bolts for Michigan, why should this go round be any different?

When Shula was fired, Rich Rodriguez was the hot name and he almost came to Tuscaloosa but then backed out. And lo and behold, they ended up with Nick Saban.

My point is, on the surface it seems easy to say that a guy like Spurrier makes sense as the next LSU coach, but instinct leads me to believe otherwise.

So who are the dark horse candidates that'll emerge as this coaching carousel spins? When the dust settles, and guys like Spurrier, Del Rio, Saban, Petrino and Tuberville say they aren't interested in the job, who is going to come busting out of the shadows?

Chris Peterson? Will Muschamp? Mike Dantonio? Gene Chizik?

Who's it going to be?

Scarborough mentioned Frank Beamer. Don't have a clue why he would mention such a thing, but he did.

Good coach, but I can't see that happening. I bet you Bobby Petrino would love to have the LSU job but I don't think we'd give him an interview.

Although this has been the thing of the past, When Saban left LSU was successful but not a national powerhouse year in and year out like it is now. Nor loaded with as much talent as now. I don't think we hire under our abilities. I think a big name lands this time and hopefully they are a good recruiter because after this mess we need to pick up some ground.

That's not correct. Miles pretty quickly became one of the leading candidates after Saban left. As I recall the two names being bandied about back then were Miles and Bobby Petrino.

If that situation arises, look for a name like Brian Kelly.

He'll at least get a token interview.

Petrino running our offense would be scary.

sorry I'm not on the Chris Peterson bandwagon at all.
