Say he gets hired, what are the expectations? Is it too early to start gauging that?

Well, the defense would run to the ball and tackle, that much is certain. Initial expectations would depend on his assistants. With an offensive guy like Spurrier, everybody was pushing for a guy like Tenuta (if he doesn't land as a HC himself somewhere) who would be great, or Will Muschamp as DC. However, the DC is much less important if we hire JDR, and the OC would have to be an A or A+ hire, either on his Xs and Os, recruiting or a combo. Crowton might not be a bad choice to stay with a JDR-type defensive Head Coach.

Rocket....Man, just don't know about JDR. He is not ringing the bell for me. Guess my concerns about him are:

USC connection - does he leave to return to CA one day?

Recruiting - is he ready to hit the pavement and put up with that rotten part of college coaching?

NFL - he will stay and finish the season with the Jaguars, so what does that do to our recruiting this year?

18-20 year olds - he has been dealing with the millionaire players for some time, can he come down and handle the kids?

Let me know what you see in him that I am missing. Stay good dude.

I'm not cutting down DelRio but I'm wondering what is it that folks like about him moreso than the other college coaches? He doesn't have much if any experience in the college game. How does his pro experience prepare him for the differences and the take over of a major college program?
His inability to improve the Jags passing game significantly concerns me as well. They are 23rd now, 24th in '06, 19th in '05, 19th in '04. Did he honestly believe he was getting anything more than game managers with his last two QB's?

I know he wins in the NFL but a team can't afford to lose more than one and sniff the MNC most years in the college game.

Top ranked offenses and defenses every year. Top 3 recruiting class every year. SEC Champs every year, national champs every other year. When we arent in the NC game I expect a win in a BCS bowl. Minimum of three first round draft picks every year.

JDR with Crowton staying on board gives us the best coaching staff in the SEC IMO.

I'd rather Gruden, but I doubt that would happen. JDR would be a good hire though.
