Craig given green light to work with QBs, LSU offense is "changing".

Danny Etling wouldn’t know whether the passing portion of LSU’s spring practices this year is any different from the spring practices last year. He was with Purdue last March.
But Etling would know whether LSU’s offensive playbook has grown since last fall. The quarterback transfer spent his fall and winter nights studying Cam Cameron’s and Les Miles’ book of plays, schemes and formations.
And, yes, it has grown.
quote:
Two weeks and six practices through the spring, and Miles said change has arrived. Other schools visited LSU during the offseason, he said, and his staff broke down film of teams that “throw the football really well,” the coach added.
Meanwhile, the squad is spending more time in spring practice than ever on the passing game, and new receivers coach Dameyune Craig installed new passing drills, too.
quote:
Craig left Auburn for only a 10 percent raise and a contract that, in length, is shorter by three months, but his influence on the LSU offense appears to be substantial.
Craig told The Advocate earlier this week that Cameron gave him the “green light” to work with quarterbacks if he notices “anything.” The two coaches — Craig and Cameron — “meet all day,” Craig said. They’re not often separated on the practice field, either.

i'm not sure what that means but I do know that BH want Cam on the sideline and that's where he oughta be. I also agree with BH about needing to improve execution. he is saying all the right things.
we will not improve until we prove we are a threat thru the air. if that happens the sky is the limit.

Don't not see how anyone can fall for this again.

Not getting excited about a passing game anymore.

Oh we have plenty of fans dumb enough to fall for this. Then they'll get pissed again when the passing offense blows.

Right because we didn't hire new coaches or anything.
I'm over the negativity. Until we see it we should support our team. Any opinion until then is pure conjecture.
Players are allowed to improve. Coaches can change.

Ehhh this is different rhetoric than we've heard in years past.
This seems like they're actually doing a lot of things differently and brought in outside resources to re-evaluate the passing game.
Now, this doesn't mean it will work, but its not really like anything we've heard or they've done in the past under Les Miles.
I'm cautiously optimistic. We don't need an elite passing game. We need an average passing game that can move chains and keep the defense honest so they can't stack the box on Fournette and Guice. I think that can and will happen this year...at least moreso than the last 2 years.

It is ok to be optimistic about the team...we are stacked as frick.
I am not ok with getting optimistic about opening up the playbook during Spring Ball for the 11th consecutive spring in a row. Especially when on field play calling in the fall determines that this was never the plan for the season.

The RBs aren't getting enough reps!
But seriously, I understand why you people are not believing any of this but we hired Craig to install a couple plays of a spread scheme. They are not going to completely overhaul the offense but I'll bet we won't be running I formation play action passes with one WR on 3rd and longs. Most of those spread offenses are just triple option read plays which Are not that hard to install. Now having a QB that can execute and sell those plays is a different story

How dare anyone get excited about evidence changes being made to the offense?
How dare they expect a first year starting soph quarterack to improve?
The fricking nerve, right?

Very true.
And if the passing game is good, the ones who claimed it would not be will likely be complaining that LF didn't get enough carries.
Guaranteed they will find something in their miserable lives to complain about
