How different would the baseball team look with these 6 players?

This came up in the game thread last night because we were playing against Dakota and will also play against Barash later this year. Also, some of them are doing rather well.

Cade Stone - former Tiger IF; now at ULM; left after his freshman year (2014); made a stop at LSUE; leadsULM in hitting with 0.350+ average

Dakota Dean - former Tiger IF; now at UNO; left after his freshman year (2014); hitting over 0.400

Michael Barash - former Tiger; now at Texas A&M; left after his freshman year (2013, left after fall ball 2013); hitting over 0.300 and leads team in HR

Jake Godfrey - former Tiger; now at Northwest Florida State College; committed to Arizona State for 2017; Left after his freshman year (2015); currently 4-0 with a 0.00 ERA and 7-1 SO-BB ratio

Grayson Byrd - former Tiger; now at Clemson; left after his freshman year (2015); sitting out due to NCAA requirement

Danny Zardon - former Tiger; now at Nova Southeastern University; left after his sophomore year (2015); hitting over 0.300 and over 0.600 Slg% (6 HRs)

I realize turnover happens and these guys are gone. But I don't remember a time where so many that have left and have been this successful. We can name a few here or there. JT Wise comes to mind.

Not much different. None of those guys are game changers. Barash is ok but we had a better catcher last year in Scivicque. He may have started this year but who knows.

Might have a little more experience but that's about it. None of those guys or all 6 were going to make this an Omaha bound team.

If we had him, we likely don't win the series against aggy last year. He was instrumental in our series win.

Imagine how many more errors we could have in the infield if Zardon would have stayed! Glad to see he brought his iron glove with him over there. Already 6 errors, fielding .903

I would say Godfrey would be pretty important. We did a great job going out and getting Transfer guys to fill in. Valek, Freeman mostly.

It was tough to lose Barash, but the fact is we have Papierski and only 1 could start most games...I would take Pap and his superior defense.

Dean I wish was still here but it makes sense he's playing for his brother.

Godfrey was again just ok. Couldnt throw strikes most of the time.

He was a decent freshman. I would assume he would have taken a step forward. And it looks like he has. He's only walked two batter so far this year.

Probably your third baseman right now.

No way he is starting over Pap might mean that Romero isn't on the team tho.

Who knows with him. Cole Freeman is very good at second and Kramer looks to have short locked up.

See Grayson Byrd but if both of them are still here does Cole Freeman even come to LSU.

Could be a good bullpen guy but I think the reason he left is because he wasn't guaranteed a weekend spot

Danny Zardon had one big hit his whole career at LSu. He was never consistent enough to start everyday. Would have battled for the third base position.

Having these guys wouldn't hurt the team but I think the young guys they brought in are better except for maybe Dakota Dean he looks like a good ball player. Hit the ball hard last night every time he batted.

He plays for a school no one has ever heard of. He probably never has to pitch out of the stretch against his competition. You'll excuse me if i ignore his 10 games stats at north south florida state university college.

of those listed, i would be most interested in how dean's bat would have progressed. would be nice to have that power in the lineup.

Barash was an early enrollee too. He was here during what would have been his senior year of high school. And left at an odd time.

Yes. He's facing the same type of teams Freeman, Ducote, Adams and Valek faced as sophomores last year...

ETA: and I can't imagine the teams are much worse than Fordham and Ball St.

Godfrey had/has a ton of potential. He was a bit wild and struggled with his emotions, but usually you can expect some of that from a FR.

i can. But the point isnt that he sucks, it's that your posting his stats are pointless.

FWIW, he was committed to Arizona State a month after he left LSU before he ever stepped foot on that community school's campus.

Dean and Byrd would have been nice to hold on to but I'm not sure how much if any improvement they would bring. Godfrey had Friday night stuff but towards the end of last season he was struggling to get out of the first inning. Lot of potential but the most inconsistent pitcher I've ever seen at lsu. Just didn't know what you would get from one pitch to the next.

The others would not see playing time at lsu. Hence why they left.

Must be in that Jarred Bogany pipeline they have over there.

It was more of to see how they're doing more than to say they mean very much. He's doing well because he's overpowering crap teams. I'm not deny that. But you shouldn't deny that he would be helpful to a team still looking for another starter and a struggling pen.
