I remember we had Chief Justice Bernette Joshua Johnson speak. She talked at length about diversity, and I remember feeling cheated. I wanted James Carville.

Who was your graduation speaker? What wisdom did they impart, and how has it helped you fare in the trenches of legal combat?

I know Gov. Mike Foster spoke in the mid-90s. Pretty ridiculous, since he had a well-known and open hatred of trial lawyers (then again, he was a Southern grad).

How many of you plan to speak at the commencement one day?

Can't answer since I didn't go to law school. I didn't want to spend all that money for an education that would only net me a paltry sum since everyone and their dog goes to law school, causing the market to be flooded.

I went to Swagga U and we had Stephanie Finley speak. She is the US Attorney for the Western District and has just been nominated to take Judge Haik's spot on the bench. I also once rode alone in a car with her from Shreveport to Lafayette . She's a cool lady and I think she'll do great on the bench.

My sister's speaker was Mike foster. His whole speech was pretty much about how he hated lawyers. He also advised the class not be scum, like most lawyers. His words.

Justice Johnson is not a good speaker in that environment.

We had Bobby J. I felt cheated too.

Got my JD in 74 - honestly don't remember who the speaker was. Must not have made much of an impression.

I saw Ted Turner at my brother's graduation from FSU in the early 90's. The guy just babbled on about marriage and divorce for what seemed like hours. I'm pretty sure he was drunk.
