You guys should be on your knees thanking Ben Simmons for even coming to LSU.
Why? How did LSU benefit from him being on campus other than being embarrassed regularly on national TV?

I think he had a great statistical year. One that's never been seen in the SEC. I was just expecting so much more from the LSU basketball team.

However, the people that are dogging him, will be at the front of the line saying "LSU, LSU!" and claiming him as one of ours when he is an NBA All-Star.

Good luck in the NBA, Ben. I will be rooting for you.

Why do people think he didn't give a shite? Please cite some reasons...

Is it because his personality of not showing a ton of emotion? Not every great player is incredibly emotional. Is it the fact he is screaming like a child on the court? He busted his arse on the court and by all accounts was a great teammate and worked hard at practice.

GOAT at accumulating hollow stats and disappearing in crunch time

You might not believe it now, but the publicity still put LSU on national TV 10x more than normal and we weren't always losing.

OU and first UK games had huge viewings and put LSU basketball in a lot of living rooms that it normally wouldn't be in.

Johnny is to blame for this teams collapse. Nobody else. Definitely not the 18 year old superstar that had absurd numbers all year and won national freshman of the year.

Ben played well for the most part overall. I blame Johnny Jones for not knowing how to design an offensive system around him.

Jones basically just gave Ben the ball and to him to do something with everyone else standing around watching and hoping that he would.

Jones didn't place any of his players in a position to succeed. It's still surprising to me that Ben average 20/12/5 in this pedestrian of an offense. Just imagine the damage Ben could've done if we had a coach who could design an offensive around his capabilities as well as one that demanded full effort from the entire team when they were out on the floor.

For the hundredth time....19.2 does not round out to twenty. It rounds down to 19.

I'll miss seeing his personal camera crew running around the pmac trying to get shots of him from every possible angle.

Wanna know why LSU had an abortion of a season? You just nailed it. It does not matter what Simmons' stats were, if you walk around like a savior or uninterested ...like it appears Simmons was, then you will get a lot of resentful play.

In the end this all falls on the coach. If Simmons did have an entourage following him, Jones should have kicked that entourage out and if Simmons or his handlers had objected, I would have kicked Simmons out on his arse onto Nicholson at rush hour!

Stop giving him a pass. Numbers do not tell the whole story. He disappeared late in games where great players step up. Where was his vegamite eating arse in the last few minutes of the Oklahoma game? What about Alabama earlier in the season...I could name others.

In a tight game , with the game on the line in the last minutes, Shaquille O'Neal was THE option! He embraced the crunch time and went all out. I NEVER saw that from Simmons.

Does it really matter. I'm sure everyone knows how to round numbers.

Simmons is the best player I have seen that can actually play all the positions in college. His problem is he is not elite at any one of them. Most of his stats were in the second half during garbage time

People keep harping on this, but O'neal and other star players had or have coaches that design schemes to put them in position to be successful. Jones didn't do anything close to that with this team. You can't just hand the ball over to Ben at the point, go 4 wide and tell him over and over to make a play. As we saw, good coaches will shut that down and they did.

95% of the failures of this team points directly to the head coach. He had piss poor offensive and defensive schemes, lack of adjustments, lack of development of his bench players, nor did he hold any of his players accountable whenever they demonstrated lack of effort on the floor.

I did not see the aggressiveness in Simmons even in good games like Oklahoma. Jones may not be a genius, but the fact that teams would pack it in on a 2-3 zone ....that is not hard to bust up with a strong big man and a decent forward.

Great players step up in crunch time and carry the team on his back.

No way a 2-3 zone was ever going to keep Shaq or Jarrell Martin down, if they wanted it.

Simmons will be starting for Ankara in the Turkish League within the next decade
