Jews should've yelled: You worship Mary!

Well, since He died for our sins, the best response would be "You're welcome!"

Gotta be a bit careful with that line--somebody might've heard Kinky Freidman's "They Ain't Makin' Jews Like Jesus Anymore."

frick that's great. Good for those schools. Used to love when we played the trashy public schools and we would chant "that's alright, that's okay, you're going to pump our gas one day". Poor people need to realize they are below us. Just like Jewish people need to realize they killed jesus

Because it's true to a certain extent. Gov. Pilate bears some responsibility.

Nah he was just pleasing the crowd because the Romans were really scared of an anti-Roman uprising in that part of the world. The Jewish leaders stacked the crowd with anti-Jesus people and forced Pilate's hand.

Nah, there was no real trial and there was certainly no popular vote to decide what to do with Jesus. Pilate held all the power, and Pilate probably decided in about 30 seconds to simply kill Jesus. Pilate routinely crucified any Jew who had any potential of disruption. There would've been no need for Jewish leaders to stack any crowd against Jesus.

No doubt. It was Passover. If the Gov. of Judea allowed an uprising, he would have been in deep trouble in Rome.

He was called back a few years after the crucifixion for excessive brutality and committed suicide in Rome.

I'd say he bears most of it. He gave the order. The "washing hands of any responsibility" scene is a dramatic fiction. Washing hands like that was a Jewish ritual, not Roman, and Pilate had sole authority for executing enemies of the state. Jesus was killed for sedition, not heresy.

I didn't know about the suicide part, but yeah Pilate was merciless towards the Jews. It's likely he didn't give any thought to Jesus at all.

If you're going to play that card, you should realize that the WASP elite looks down on Catholics as immigrant upstarts.

I remember when I was in HS, I went to all the basketball games. We (public school) played some uppity Catholic school at home & their fan base started chanting some shite early in the game trying to be cute. Right before halftime, we were already beating the shite out of this team.. in a playoff game and things started to get out of hand. When the game started, they were chanting something about McDonalds then before halftime I remember our fans started yelling shite like"yo tell yo wife ill be serving her this dick with her fries".

At half time most of their fans left out of them gym. When the 2nd half started, I never seen a team play so ready to finish a game. You could tell they were scared, the refs had to stop the game a few times. They had to kick out some of our fans because knowing the other team was scared only made the fans mess with them more. That was probably the last time those private school pricks (im not against private schools now or anything, but this was a different time) ever chanted something "cute" like whatever they were saying again. It was fun seeing all those people not knowing what the real world was like get a taste of it.
