Do you think NASA could put another man on the moon in a 7 year timeframe?

Just got done watching "The Right Stuff". Great movie. It got me thinking how big of a feat Apollo 11 was, to basically design a system to put a man on the moon with nothing more than a slide rule, a navigational calculator with the computing power of your graphing calculator, and paper.

For the unawares, JFK called for the US to put a man on the moon in 1962. Apollo 11 happened in 1969. Personally I doubt NASA could do it again within the same timeframe.

A good diagram that put things in perspective on just how difficult Apollo 11 was

We've done it. I think the next objective has to be Mars for the longevity of our species.

I think with the CGI we have today, anything is possible.

Aliens don't want us on the moon. They have a base on the dark side of the moon.

Money buys a lot of things, and that is all it would require lots and lots of money. Would not take 7 years either.

If given the proper funding we could do it within the year. No doubt about that.

Man has never left the earths orbit. Too much radiation. Why do you think the Russians and Chinese have never done it?

I wonder how many people realize we've been to the moon more then once...like 7 times with people.

Give them 4% of the federal budget and it could be done.

This country won't do it again (or any other significant space mission). We're a tired country now more obsessed with comfort and "diversity".

If you're involving budgets, beurocracy, red tape, etc that's one thing, but it sounds like you're just asking if you think it's even feasible. Is that right?

Because if so, it is laughable if you think we couldn't replicate something now that was done nearly 50 years ago considering the difference in technology.

No way because the infrastructure no longer exists. Kennedy Space Center is a ghost town made up of empty buildings. It would take one hell of a commitment to rebuild those facilities.

I think they could do it. But I believe it would be due more to the advances in technology than to the caliber of personnel involved.

We put 5 roughnecks on an asteroid in like a month, I think we could knock out another moon landing if we wanted to.

Difference between 1962 and now? I can facetime a chinaman on my iphone with the push of a button.

With enough money, we could get to Mars in a few years.

Maybe I don't understand OP's question. But it sounds like he's saying modern-day NASA couldn't achieve in seven years what 1962 NASA achieved in seven years. If that's the case, LOL.
