Been threatening to do this for a while.
Before.
After.
Next to my GSR.
Initial impressions are it's a very well made stock for something that is only $140 and essentially a drop-in replacement. Fitting isn't quite as close as the factory GSR stock, especially around the safety but I haven't tried centering up the action at all and I still have to bed the steel lugs. Very solid feel, the forearm on the stock is a little thicker and an inch longer than factory and while you could flex the factory stock enough to touch the barrel by shifting weight on the bipod, that isn't going to happen easily with this stock. I might have to do very slight clearancing to make sure it's full free-floated but I doubt that would take more than 10 minutes with fine sandpaper and a dowel. As far as handling it feels the same in terms of cheek weld and grip around to the trigger, little more weight towards the front compared to how it was with my silicone-filled factory stock but centers on the front end of the magazine well with everything on it. Magazine fits better than stock, no play and drops out better. No issues with cycling the dummy rounds I have. Sadly the factory shoulder pad is not interchangeable from the factory stock, even if I ground off the lip to allow a flush fit the screw holes are in different locations. So far 8/10 would bang and that might go up after I get it bedded and it does well at the range.

Need to get one, such a fun little rifle to shoot. I need to order a scope for mine, kind of settled on a Leupold FX-II scout.

Nice for sure. Check out the Burris scout scope as well just as something to compare the 2. I prefer the Leupold but a ton of people like the Burris.

Nope, that's were the cat sleeps when I'm not putting guns on it. Cheap POS furniture for my cheap POS apartment I have while stationed up here, I have better things to buy right now anyway...

I like it. Love laminated stocks. Especially the gray one and brown/nutmeg.

First, it looks awesome.
Second, why change from stock? I've been thinking of getting a Ruger American. Was it a want thing or a need thing?

Just a want. Matches my other Ruger.
