Watching USWNT practice against FC Dallas U-15 Boys

My daughter just finished practice up here in Frisco and the women are practicing here.
US soccer won't allow anyone within 150yds of the practice field. Even the U15 players families...
Anyway, to no ones surprise, the boys are dominating.

The anatomical differences are significant... I'm really not surprised that a 15 year old man child can run faster with a ball than a woman.

It always amazes me how everybody gets excited about the USWNT while always bagging on the WNBA. Both products are equally terrible.

I don't know about equally terrible. the fact that the goals are the same deminsions in both sports separates it for me. because girls basketball viewing is diminished by about 75% right off the top simply due to the fact that you have to watch 27 missed layups per half

Women's soccer is a knock off version of the men's game, but it is still soccer. You can still get to see a lot of the good parts of soccer.
Women's basketball removes just so much out of what makes basketball enjoyable.
Helps that a good number of women's players are nice to look at, while majority of the WNBA is hideous.

Back around 2006 my friends travel team u14/u15 beat Canada's women's national team badly. His team was a national powerhouse tho.

Yeah, it's pretty common and always against a really good boys team U15+. The women will talk about it, so it's not like they're ashamed or go in with the idea that they'll smack the shite out of some teenage boys. Basically go in with the idea that they'll have to deal with shite they wouldn't have to deal with otherwise, particularly with how guys strike the ball compared to even international level women. Always interesting to hear about, though.

Well it ended 0-0. The boys dominated possession based on speed alone. And the ladies couldn't win anything in the air. But they did have some moments where they put some great skill moves on the boys.

Why did they not want anyone within 150 yards of the field? For the sake of their own tactics or for seeing a U-15 team play them?

I'd have to assume that they don't want it plastered all over the place that some boys who just hit puberty can dominate the best women's team in the world.
ETA: Especially since they're trying to get equal pay as the guys. Which IMO is a totally different issue. Sigh.

Well anyone who has followed soccer has known this. It's not that big of a deal.
I do like how some mainstream websites run articles about the pay gap in soccer, without realizing the economics behind it.

It would kill the spirits of little girls everywhere if they knew the USWNT couldn't hang with teenage boys. Makes you wonder what the score would be if they squared off against the USMNT or an MLS club.

I'm not sure that's true. My daughter and her teammates couldn't care less about what was happening in the scrimmage (they scrimmage boys all the time and always talk about how they are so much faster). But had they been allowed to get a little closer, it would have been the best day of their lives. But I also ubderstand not wanting thousands of people crowding your practice.
What I thought was dumb was that even the U15 boys families weren't allowed to watch.
The girls were able to go meet the women's teams from Costa Rica and Mexico who were practicing on open fields. That was cool for them.

Eh, you would have to pay me to watch the wnba, while I enjoy watching the women's national team. It's a much slower pace, but the women's game at least resembles the men's. Whereas, women's basketball is completely different.

Yep, listening to this trick speak out on equal pay for the women's game one morning on first take made me lose my shite.

but the general public does not, and that's who they're marketing the women's team anyways

Not surprising. The USWNT has gone full Hollywood in the past few years.
That's cool they got to meet the Costa Rica and Mexico players though
