How is this place? I'm going there later and really have no idea what to expect, maybe some of you guys could help me out?
I'm usually lost when it comes to ordering off of an "ethnic" menu. What are some recommended dishes in the medium prices range?

I always thought it was really solid. They have really good chicken curry and pad thai

Mediocre at best. Do Rama for a better Thai experience.

G96. I've never eaten there, but that's one of my favorite foods of any kind anywhere.

I could never bring myself to eat at Rama. The outside of that building was just too off putting

I really enjoy it.
Just order the flavor profiles you like. Hard to go wrong IMO.
Get an order of egg wolls. Best in town.
And mangoes and sweet rice if available.

Jesus. You're missing out on some good food if that is how you judge a place.

I order the chicken pad ka prow. It's normally comes as a sauce with veggies (bell peppers or all colors, and onions mostly) with rice on the side. I order it with pad Thai noodles instead of the rice and I also have it all cooked together instead of separated. Usually get a heat level of 4 out of 5. If it sounds complicated, it's not...the server will more than likely know exactly what you're talking about. It's pretty amazing.
Me and 4 other people from work go pretty regularly, and they saw me order this. Now the ALL get this dish regularly

The shrimp pad ka prow is one of my favorites as well.

There were issues. They encountered computer software glitches where items did not print in the kitchen printer and A/C seemed a little weak. Not very impressive except the bar. Pad Thai looked a little off-color from before the move and dry too. That's my opinion. I think price increases on certain items.
Judge for yourself. Give it a try.

It's ok.. Weakest Thai place in Baton Rouge IMO.

It's pretty good but if we're just rating it on lunch buffet I would rather go to Thai Pepper on Florida.

Damn... going there to for a friend's bday. I'm already kind of leary of the food and this thread isn't really assuaging my concern.

People are ignoring your original post for some reason and just talking about their preferences on Thai food
If you're trying to play it safe, Pad Thai is the most common Thai item. It is very good. Flat noodles, sweet tasting with some lime wedges to cut the sweetness. Honestly, nothing is going to be too "weird". It is just a bunch of chicken/shrimp/vegetable dishes.. some rice dishes.. some noodle dishes. We aren't talking brains and eyeballs here. Pretty normal food. If you really want to branch out, get a green curry dish. Thai green curry is FANTASTIC.
Thai Kitchen has slipped from what they used to be, but for someone who has never had Thai food and has nothing to compare it to, you'll like it fine unless you're an oddly picky eater.
BEGINNER'S TIP: You're going to be ask what level of hot you want most things you order. I wouldn't go the hottest they offer, but if you like spicy food, the spice is good in Thai food.
