Par golf won't get you on a college team, not a good one much less a tour of any kind.

Too much travel. I've got a wife and kids that I want to see. It's sort of why I retired while still in my prime.

Ha, some of the scores caught my eye, too, but to be honest, good players can shoot around or a bit below par on average courses or easy courses when they play really, really well.
And many of those guys aren't good enough to play D-1, much less for a top notch program.
The gap is just so huge from good high school player to good college player and then a Grand Canyon from there to even a struggling professional.
I shot three sub-70 tournament rounds (one 66 and two 68's) when I was in high school on courses that weren't very difficult and was about a +1 or +2 for about a year and a half. During that same period, I'd go play major championship courses and would have to play out of my mind to break 85 from the regular men's tees. The gap is just gargantuan. I played Chambers Bay four years ago (was probably a 6 - 8 handicap at that point), played well...and shot a 97.
