three variables.
1. state/locale
2. defense attorney
3. career vector of prosecution. i.e., how rabid is the attack? will he accept plea bargain in exchange for info?
Let me guess.
5 years actual time in prison. whopping fine.
if I were him, I would mortgage the house to pay the fine and bail, and go to Brazil with the bit that is left after bail.

Unless he's wealthy, of course. Good lawyer might prevent jail time.

Did the church have a school?

Why does it matter how close to a church it was?

Federal pound me in the arse prison more than likely. If you're lucky, maybe you can still see him for conjugal visits

controlled substance
what this was that he was caught with is a big predictor, too.
with bail north of 50k, it ain't weed.
Typically, they will want his sources, and their sources, etc bargain, deal, bargain = slap on the wrist/ min. actual time.
Unless this is an occupational hazard for your boy...

CRO if he gets a good lawyer and its a first offense.
Depends on the drug too.

Close to a school, I get it. But why does it matter if they were close to a church or not?

So wait... the church can steal money from people, but people can't sell drugs near that same church???
I'd actually consider the drug dealing less of a crime... At least you get something for your money.

Went to school with the guy. Had a big bust this weekend and saw he was involved. Whats he looking at?
Probabtion is first offense.
The 1500 feet of a church will get tossed out.

Prepare your...uh, his...anus.

If he has money, he won't do much jail time, if any.

Why even post this if you aren't going to provide any obvious details?
