Fuk he went 1 on 5 out of the timeout. He's so out of control at times he kills us.

Didn't you hear? Simmons can't shoot
Posted on 1/30/16 at 10:48 pm to thibodauxtigah
Just saw the replay and Simmons was barely across half court. He didn't want any.

Coaching my friend
What the frick does coaching havery to do with a players instinct on the court during a 3.8 second span?
And many many coaches do not call a timeout there. So don't go there. Its not the nba. The ball doesnt get advanced to half court

This is what baffles the shite out of me. My only conclusion is that he's a freshman. It's all I can come up with.

It's something that Simmons doesn't have, and it can't be coached. This is why Simmons will never be a star, just a decent player in the NBA

i really dont see how all these "experts" can call him the unanimous #1 pick if they have really watched how he plays this year.
Buddy Hield was on a different planet than Simmons yesterday

Call a time out on the inbound. Coaching 101.
This is just stupid. Calling a timeout in that situation benefits the defense way more than it does the offense. If any coach calls a timeout right there, 99% of the time it ends up being a long three because the defense is set and ready for anything. By going quick Quarterman made it all the way to the goal and got a good look. Personally i think he was fouled. A forearm to the chest is what prevented him from elevating. This isnt one of those games where we can say that LSU blew it. OU hit some huge shots down the stretch while we played good defense and were all over the shooter. There shooters are just that good and came through in the clutch.

.5% of coaches call a timeout there.
Calling a timeout is the absolute wrong move. What people aren't mentioning is that TQ got to the goal and got fouled...he should have shot FT's. Because we took it out so quickly Oklahoma didn't have time to set up their defense. He got by 2 guys and then got killed.
If you call a timeout, they would have guarded the in bounds guy, pressed harder, and it would have been more difficult. People are so ignorant

The best play was to Hornsby, who was wide open at the top of the key. Blakeney was also wide open, but it would have been a tougher pass and the defense would have had more time to react to it.
TQ was trying to be superdude all night, and aside from the threes, it was always a disaster. Pass the ball to the open shooter, a-hole.
Going for overtime against a #1 team that had been dominating the last 10 minutes of the game was a bad idea.

Whoever was on the left side of the court was open.

Guys when you are going the length of the court in 3 seconds, you assume you won't have time for that extra pass. He must have been flying to get that far.
Posted on 1/31/16 at 9:38 am to blackandgolddude
In that situation Hornsby should only get the ball if he is wide open. Contested shot not his forte due to height and jumping limitations.
TQ was 5 for 5 from 3 pt line and has height and elevation skill for that play. I would have preferred a 3 to win it. Blakeney also is a great option due to his vertical on the jumper.
With 3.8 left the idea is to have those 2 or Simmons receive the inbounds and drive the floor the shot. Only pass if someone is wide open and you see it quickly. TQ did the right thing except for passing on a 3 shot.

Go tell coach that to his face.

Definite foul across the chest on Q. Not sure about the clock though.
Posted on 1/31/16 at 10:23 am to thibodauxtigah
It wasnt a bad coaching decision to not call a timeout. The defense was on its heals. shite, TQ got all the way to the rack. Why let them set up a defense?
As far as the shot... maybe a pull up or dish is better in hindsight, but getting to the rack and drawing contact is not a bad attempt with under 4 seconds
