quote:For what it's worth, Lebron was still an aggressive and physical beast his first year. I don't see Simmons being able to manhandle players the way Lebron does (and did). He's smooth and quick, but there are a lot of guys who can defend that, if there isn't the threat of a midrange game.
For what it's worth, Lebron had an awful shot when he first entered the league

is because Victor was limited by foul trouble and Jones continued to play Quarterman even though he went in the tank after his first couple minutes in the game.
Do you even pay attention to the game? TQ was leading scorer for LSU last night. Josh Gray contributed 2 TO's, 2 PF's, and 0 pts as a starter last night.
You might want to do some research for a different goat...
I see a lot of people blaming Victor for getting in foul trouble. shite happens when you have to guard a 6'10" 270 lb guy who was Mr. Basketball last yr in Texas... He was a load and CV did better than anyone else on him. He at least neutralized his man while he was in the game by matching him scorewise.

Teams have learned they can play off of Simmons and he can't hurt them. He straight up refuses to take a jumper and teams know it. They are playing off of him and basically taking away his offensive strength which is dribble drive. As good as a prospect as Ben is he just isn't an elite offensive threat at this level.

This is simply not true. Go watch some of his first year highlights

I noticed that aTm defended Simmons off the dribble with a secondary man so the initial defender would not get caught in a stupid handsy foul and still get beat to the goal. They simply cut his lane off and he had no choice but to pull out of the drive. They were also good at making sure no unattended guys were left under the goal as a result of the double team.
That was the first time I have seen anyone do that effectively on Simmons this season.

Lebron year 1 and Ben year 1 of college are highly comparable.
No,they really arent. Lebron ' s first year out of high school he was averaging 20 a game in the NBA. Simmons is not the offensive threat that Lebron was.

A&M has a good front court. Davis and jones are tough to deal with. Davis surprised me.

And this isn't even a slight to Benny. LeBron may be the most physically gifted athlete ever. The comparisons weren't really fair from the beginning.

Simmons is averaging numbers that haven't been put up in almost 40 years and people are complaining he isn't doing enough?
Is it Simmons fault Blakeney went through a long stretch shooting 20% from the field?
Blakeney is shooting 37% and 30% from 3
Sampson shooting 34% and 30% from 3
Patterson shooting 29% from 3
Quartetman is averaging 34% from 3
The starting bigs are not the problem. It would help if any of the guards knew how to pass to Simmons and Victor in the post.
As for mentioning Buddy Hield. It took him until his 4th year to score 36 points or more which he has done once, Simmons did it twice in his first 11 games.

"He is an amazing talent with a skill set that WILL make him impossible to guard."
So wrong...... he will likely never be a dominant scorer ever in his career . His skill set makes him more of a Facilitator . This alone is what sets him apart. When he gets on the floor with great scorers in NBA he will shoot even less than he does now. IMO I think he's great talent but not a great scorer. Glad he's on my team

He still has much to learn and in time, I agree, he WILL be impossible to guard

You're right, it's not a knock. Lebron was averaging 27 points a game ,2 years out of high school. Lebron is for sure the most physically gifted basketball player ever.

right and he gets no respect from opposing D's outside of about 6-8 feet. Packing a 2-3 zone is the perfect antidote to Ben.

He scores 20 points a game. You people are ridiculous.

Simmons needs to stop passing the ball when he has capable looks around the basketball. Why does he pass the ball to our big men when they have no type of scoring abilities. We have no depth inside and he needs to grow some and get physical. You get drafted on potential and right now his team needs production.
