In-laws bought us 6-months of house cleaning for Christmas.

Cleaning lady did her work today. Well done.

But, here is my question for this board. My wife and mother in-law spent a few hours yesterday "cleaning up" for the cleaning lady. The house was not that bad.

I don't change my oil right before getting my oil changed.

I don't get my haircut right before a haircut.

I do drink a few beers before drinking beers so maybe the analogy is best fit here. I guess.

Does this pre-cleaning before hired cleaning makes sense to you?

Not me.

Yes, because you can't clean with a lot of crap around.

Women are strange creatures.

I usually just end up banging my cleaning chicks.

I could see a cursory clean, then let her see the norm next time.

My wife does the same thing before the maid comes. I don't understand it but she is a woman so I don't try to understand it.

We spend a few hours 'cleaning up' each time before our cleaner comes. To the normal person our house would look perfect before the help comes in...but we walk in that night it smells and feels so much cleaner than we left it. Our help doesn't do laundry, dishes, beds or anything that is normal upkeep. She does floors, toilets, showers, range...

Makes sense to do the larger cleaning yourself and give more time for the cleaning lady to focus on the tedious crap no one likes doing.

Deal with it.

If you ever get a hall pass from her* make sure she gives you a hummer with rim job before you use it.

*FYI: She'd be cheating on you of this happens.

My house is spotless before our cleaning lady comes. I don't pay her to spend half the time straightening up. I want her deep cleaning and doing the things i don't want to do.

Totally makes sense! You want to get the everyday stuff laying around out of her way so she's not spending an hour that you could have sent getting it out of her way so she can do the big cleaning that regular people hate doing! That's what her job is ! Clean the house not "pickup" the house! BTW I wish my inlaws would gift me Cleaning service! Great gift

Very normal. They shouldn't be dusting and shite for the cleaning lady, but do you really want your cleaning person wasting time folding laundry that's on the floor and shite like that? Because they will if you leave it out. If you at least pick up, they will do the deep cleaning stuff you don't want to do.

I felt the same way at first when we hired our. You'll get use to the pre-clean and addicted to the cleaning lady.

The cleaning lady is there to clean toilets, blinds, all surfaces, etc... Not pick up your dirty underwear, sort the mail, put kids toys away, etc...

They're there to clean your house, not pick up your shite.

My wife does this and it drives me INSANE. But it's mostly just picking up our kids crap and putting it in bins. I don't argue much because she still gives me the secks (wife, not cleaning lady).
