There was a playoff birth on the line. LSU lost, out of the playoffs. Two of those teams didn't even belong. I'm not even convinced OU and MSU are better than LSU. The program is not falling off a cliff.

Face it: $7m per year and $18m in buyouts for basically a lateral coaching hire. Jimbo lost to Houston by 14 points and never led the entire game. How dumb would he look now?

Posts like this convince me that the blind Miles' acolytes are incapable of reasoned, balanced analysis. One bowl loss to a very well-coached Houston team doesn't negate all of Jimbo's other recent successes, including an undefeated NC.

Maybe we should wait to see how next year goes before determining this?

They are LSU fans, but their loyalty and allegiance is with Les, its a cult of Les.

I will concede that on paper Miles and Jimbo may appear comparable, except for one very big detail. As a matter of fact, if asking the best CFB analyst down to the most casual observer what has held back the LSU program from winning championships, they would all say the QB position.

After the inevitable outcome on Jan 11th, Jimbo Fisher will have identified, signed, and developed FOUR national championship winning QBs since 2003.

Think about that.

ONE out of THREE national championship winning QBs since 2003 are directly tied to Jimbo Fisher, and with THREE different programs.

Miles deserves credit for getting the groceries, no doubt. But how much of that is LSU and/or staff. As a matter of fact, Jimbo at FSU during his time there ranks right there with Miles, yet has to compete with Florida, Miami, Georgia, and more with Alabama than even LSU.

Jimbo always makes good defensive hires. Who knows, Aranda or better, had he come to LSU.

lovinLSU posted earlier in this thread a good narrative on the situation. One both sides should stick to. Everyone saves a little face there and options remain open.

What makes you think Jimbo Fisher had any real interest in coming here?

I think the point is both schools are second tier (at least at that time) behind the flagship school.

Don't you know that every national championship coach is dying to coach at LSU.

Jimbo, Saban, and Meyer are going to fight over the LSU coaching job when it opens up in three years.

All kidding aside, there is NOTHING which shows he had any interest whatsoever in coming to LSU.

I like Miles and didn't want him gone but but you could also make an argument that him being almost fired will or has forced him to change a few things for the better that everyone can appreciate as I do understand both sides after November. I think in the end we all want what's best for LSU and things are already looking better. IMO

It's time to start helping Les win versus helping him fail

Look, I'm no fan of Joe, especially for what he's done to game day atmosphere. But let's not act like Les has not had the highest paid staff in college football for the last couple of years.

The Arky thing was a joke and Joe got played like a fiddle.
