I know that some OCs work from the box, not just Cam. But, I've never liked it at the college level unless the HC is a huge guy in the offense.

That's because college QBs are young and with rare exception, less polished or sure of themselves. I realize they can talk to the OC via headset but I think we all know from our own experience, that face to face conversation can be MUCH different.

I think having that OC right there on the the sidelines with a developing QB is almost more important when the offense is off the field than when it is on the field.

You can like or dislike Cam's offensive style all you want, but you can't deny that the man has been around enough to have "credibility" with QBs when he is right there with them.

I hope this sideline thing continues into next year. I see it as nothing but a positive.

We've never scored less than 50 with him on the sidelines

I thought him being on the sidelines might help our QBs earlier in the year. I think it was a good move.

But, I don't really think we saw much benefit last night. Last night was as simple as it gets. It was about very basic execution.

Well, I will say there were WAY fewer times when it looked like our offense was confused as frick on the field waiting for information.

In fact, I don't recall any such situations last night.

Never underestimate how that can affect a play. When you feel harried in the 30 seconds leading up to the next play, it absolutely WILL affect execution on occasion.

Hell. Correct me. Maybe I'm mis-remembering. But, didn't we have far fewer false starts?

I would disagree. Harris looked horrible in the first half but in the second half looked much better. Harris usually was consistent whether it was good or bad. I think Cam being there made a difference. At the very least, him being on the sidelines may keep Les from meddling with the play calls.

Im not sure, but I dont even recall a false start or delay of game. Getting the play called in was waay smoother and efficient. They lined up with plenty of time to dissect the defense and also possibly change the call if need be (or allowed)

It's much easier to settle someone down when you're looking them in the eye than over a headset.

And, a HC has to be paying attention to the field at all times. The OC can use the time the defense is on the field to STAY in the QB's head.

Oh, it is also a LOT easier to READ someone face to face. One the sidelines, Cam can SEE if BH's "yes, fine" type answers are REALLY "yes, fine"...............

I think the biggest difference was les wasn't the middleman in the playcalling and making his own adjustments to the playcalling. It's like trying to play telephone with that jerk who intentionally changes the phrase

When the OC is also the QB coach, I think he needs to be on the sidelines.

Yep yep yep... It's easy for Les to check the play off with his OC sitting in the box. Now with him standing right next to him is a different story.

execution

The one thing our QBs have failed to do time and time again. If our QBs execute in every game, we would have as many national championships as Bama

If he gets execution out of them by being on the sideline, then we've found the key to victory

not bashing Miles, but anytime you can take anyone out of an equation usually yields a smoother transaction.

When Cam was the offensive coordinator for my ravens he was calling plays from the sideline every game. Not sure what made him switch to the box when he came to Lsu

I think our organization had more to do with the very simple looks we were receiving. TT didn't really try to disguise anything.

Basically, TT dared us to throw. The open part of the field was always going to be downfield. And we had a continuous matchup advantage in man to man wit Dupre.

Like I said, I like the move assuming Cam lies it. But our success last night was based on our opponent.
