everything but the point per game is wrong. Stop listening to these a-hole lying straight to your face.
How could you even begin to imagine LSU had the #8 total defense and #6 in yards per play? That is asinine if you've watched LSU all year.
Some of y'all need to be slapped.

The average LSU fan doesn't want to face reality. Defense was bad this year in LSU standards as well as the offense outside of Fournette. We had some excellent players in Debo, Adams, Neal, Key, Beckwith, and Godchaux, but LSU as a unit was average at best. Now we lose two of the 5 best players on defense this year (the top 2 tacklers, 3rd and 5th in sacks) and replace them with likely Donnie Alexander and Duke Riley (pray for true freshman beasts).

How can anybody seriously say that you can judge a DC after only ONE single season?
I don't think it's possible. Many are ready to run Steele out of town based on one season.
Because our head coach has already quite literally done that in 2008. He was right then, and we're right now.

because most of the ranters on here don't know shite about college football. the very fact they don't like Steele (which was a preconceived notion to begin with) should alert any one with common sense to that he's good at what he does.

That's fricking garbage analysis. The fact is Steele's defense gave up more points per game than the 2008 defense. Miles' own standard then was that coaching effort was unacceptable and those guys had to move on. Steele shouldn't get any special treatment because Miles likes the guy.

Our offense wasn't bad against Ole miss. We had 508 yards.
Come on man. We ran 39 plays (half of our plays in that game) for 200 yards from 3:29 left in the 3rd (when Ole Miss scored the last time to make it 38-17).
All we did was get garbage time yardage. Harris had something like 17 incompletions and an int during this time.
Nothing productive about that shite show at all. At least I thought you would be reasonable.

We played 3 of the nation's top 10 QB's this year. FWIW
And about 4 backups including some 3rd string or worst. Jeremy Johnson was also truly awful this year and TAMU's Allen fell off a cliff well before we played him. Coker was about as damn average as you can get
FWIW.

our offense stunk against ole miss. I don't understand why the ONLY friggin' stat people use for offense is YARDS GAINED. it is STUPID AS shite.
when a team is behind they gain a lot of yards. so the box score completely misrepresents the real picture. if you need an explanation of why yards gained (or given up with the D) is not good enough to describe the units performance tdhen go take football lessons.

Is that how yearly defensive stats are compiled for other teams as well? Do these statisticians all call you first to find out what your agenda is, and then alter each teams true stats to fit your needs? Clown.

Did you happen to take into account our unusually atrocious special teams play which either directly gave up a TD, or put them in a short field to score?

I believe it was 115th out of 127.
But hey, lets give Steele a raise.

Do people still want to try to defend Steele or can we all admit he's a terrible dcoordinator since he's gone now? Dude is terrible.

Peveto has a small part to play as well, as his ST allowed bigger returns and opponents didn't have to drive as far for scores.
And Steele is gone, so suck it.

We're 27th in total defense.
8th in Total Defense in the SEC. So average amongst league teams.

Have to include the context of us playing 3 of top-10 passing offenses (yds/gm) and 4 in top-20. Not sure if that sways anyone one way or the other, but it is something to consider.
I think the s/teams, like many here, were part of it also.

I liked Steele
A lot of the points given up were off some really atrocious field position because of awful field position all year. When we had better field position the defense was better.. and a some were garbage time points when we were up big. Our scoring was up this season from a year ago. Our turnovers, sacks, and tfl all were up from a season ago as well I believe.

Holy shite. Yards gained show the success your offense had at moving the ball. Sorry you don't know shite about football.say what ever you want our offemse had 508 yards of offense against Ole miss. That's a fact. Now go use some qualifier to make your point.
