Why? The kid was pointing a very realistic looking replica firearm at people.

You and strong safety can carpool up there.

As a combat veteran I have faced off with enemies with all kinds of weapons, but that was combat and you make decisions second to second. This is a case of officers that have no idea what the hell they are doing. I hope they get their eye sight checked, can tell the difference in types of weapons, and get there information from dispatch about being a possible toy gun and there was no immenient danger to the officers.
I'm with this guy.

Good, cop did nothing wrong here. That kid knew what he was doing.

This one was pretty damn bad.
Ferguson POS getting shot was 100% justified. This was different.

Whereas there is a pause button that can be used as long as it isn't in combat?

Perhaps other kids will take this as a life lesson not to be pointing guns at people nor reach for it when a cop is questioning you.
So let me guess.....the family is now going to sue b/c they perceive that they were treated unfairly by a grand jury of complete strangers

Did you see the video? What I saw was a cop drive to within feet of the kid placing his partner very close to the kid. The gun looked real and the partner had little chance to decide and react. While I can't really blame the partner the situation was handled extremely poorly. Whoever made this attack plan should be charged.
Normally I fall on the side of LEO but I can't on this one.

I don't care to join in, but if someone goes out looting, can you get me a nice smart tv? Nothing big, maybe about 40" for my shop.
Thanks.

"Combat" is a situational environment and it isn't limited to "war". Getting into a shootout with an armed robber is "combat". If someone pulls a gun on you outside a restaurant, would you be making decisions "second to second" as well?
Get their eyesight checked? Yeah, okay. Below is a picture of what he was pulling from his waistband when they shot him. NOBODY would be able to tell if it's a replica or an actual railed/long-slide 1911.
How is it the officers' fault that dispatch didn't tell them it might possibly be a toy gun? How does one ask for information that he doesn't know exists?
This quote is about the most illogical piece of garbage I've read in awhile.

So in other words, you are not a combat vet and have no idea what you're talking about.
