A player that was supposed to be a 1st rounder shouldnt be classified as a steal imo.
It should be classified as a frick up by all 30 teams for not even throwing a 7th round selection at him

Yea very smart move by a bad organization to get him. Antonio Brown also comes to mind as a steal as a 6th rounder.

Brady in the 6th

Bo Jackson was the 1st overall pick and then was drafted in the 7th round the next season when he re-entered the draft the next season

As far as undrafted free agents it's unprecedented how much of a steal Collins was.

Figuratively and literally the biggest.

The decision not to draft Lael Collins was made 224 times in a row by 32 people acting independently. Then those same 32 people suddenly reversed course and decided he was worth offering an undrafted free agent contract. What are the odds of that happening coincidentally? Pretty much zero.

The NFL teams had to be acting in concert for Collins to go undrafted, but still wanted enough by all 32 teams to receive free agent offers. Dallas didn't get a steal so much as they were the beneficiary of collusion by the NFL. If I were Collins I would be suing the NFL for colluding to deny me fair market value for my services. I would be seeking treble damages using RICO as justification.

The Saints could have had him basically for free (7th round) and they blew it.

I don't know how he did it but Jerry gamed the system somehow to get La'el.

He is not even the biggest steal on his team. Tony Romo was undrafted. Now if recent history is just the last two years, then maybe.

Yep. Good thing the Saints are so solid on the o-line, they didn't need him.

Biggest steal in recent NFL history is a contest between two LSU players. I'm sure you're familiar with the other nominee.

As a Saints fan the biggest steal that comes to mind would be Marques Colston. 7th round pick out of Hofstra, nearly 10,000 yards and 70 plus TDs. Thats some pretty damn good value for a 7th round pick.

Still baffles me why the dumbass Saints didn't take a shot at him in the seventh round, call his bluff. I bet you he would a played and you would've stolen him.
