Best tv to buy

I'm looking at either a 55 or 60 inch tv to go in a new house. Looked at a couple 4ks but have heard the others are just as good and not much content is in 4K yet. Any advice will be appreciated

How long have you had your current TV ? 4K content will be popping up everywhere in the next year, if you keep the TV more than 3 years i would buy a 4K panel. If you can wait another month prices will start to drop even more. Sony and Samsung are my two favorite.

Buy a Samsung product.
And when in doubt, get the bigger screen.

What devices do you have that are feeding the TV? If you don't have any device that outputs 4K the TV doesn't do much good.

there is almost zero 4k content now. future proofing is the only reason to buy a 4k tv.

True, but at this point the pricing for 4k tvs has dropped enough where there's not a huge price difference over 1080

Direct TV has on demend 4K content.

Personally i would choose a true 120hz non-4K tv over a pseudo 120hz 4K that you see everywhere for about the same price

Why buy pseudo 4K when you can buy genuine 4K?

Guess I'm referring to the 55+ inch 4ks that I've seen people posting about that are trumotion 120 (or other similar names) for less than$1k. I agree with you, if you can afford it get a real 120hz 4K.
My only point is if I'm choosing between 1080 with real 120hz vs a 4K with a glorified 60hz processor I'm going with the 1080

Is there a big difference in picture quality between a 120hz and 240hz?

When you are watching a movie you do not want 240hz

No, not true, you just don't want 240 interpolated frames / sec... or 120 for that matter. Or 60 fps. Movies, at 24fps, just look better on true 120/240 hz tvs instead of 60hz because 120 or 240hz divided by 24 is a whole number -- i.e. it doesn't have to use 3:2 pull-down to convert 24fps film to 29.97.

LG OLED 1080p > any non OLED 4k set

I bought the Samsung 4K uhd 55 inch. It was right under a g.

So what are the benefits of 240?

No doubt... I'm waiting for OLED mfg to become more widespread and thus drop in price

I bought the LG 55" 4k for $699. I'm happy.

The 55" 1080p OLED has been as low as 1400 this holiday season. We are getting close
