How are we to dispose of old paint?

Tried to sneak a 45lb 5 gallon bucket and trash guys rejected it. Next step is?

Pour it into a big pot and throw some vegetables in. Call it soup and bring it to some of the homeless in New Orleans.

I think if it is latex, you can leave it open then dispose of it in the regular trash. Enamel needs to go to another site.

Mix it with cat litter and leave it open to dry out then put in garbage can. As long as it's not liquid, they should take it.
