How do you know okie st wasn't as good? They had a very good resume as well except for shitting the bed that one game and field goal kicker went AWOL. You should know that feeling...but you got a second chance.

Yes. Had Oklahoma State made à field goal on a Thursday night, we would have won it all.
Also, 2012...repeat. Everyone wants to point to the the Bama final drive. We had a chance to close it out. Fourth and one. A 270 lb fullback, a 220 lb tailback. Instead we ran that stupid, tight formation, QB sneak. Failed. Horrible call. It was caused us that game. Not the last minute.

1995 Nebraska didn't play the type of schedule 2011 LSU did. Neither did 2001 Miami or 2004 USC. Those teams might beat 2011 LSU, but their regular seasons were not as impressive Bc their schedules weren't so difficult.
2011 was the odd year when, logically, there weren't any teams worthy of playing LSU for the NC. But since there had to be a NC game, Okie by every measure except "quality loss" and the newly invented "eye test" was the appropriate opponent.

After 8 quarters of football there really wasn't a whole lot of doubt who the best team was on both sides of the ball.
And to think, most teams are measured by 4 quarters.

Sad. Instead of being remembered as LSU/Les' crowning achievement and cementing LSU's elite program status, it ended up proving once again how great and dominant Saban and Bama are, and proved to the media types how smart they are for handing them the rematch. "See? LSU had no business beating Darth Saban, so we made them play again, and we were right at along!".
Bingo
Give Saban enough chances, he will beat you! (I remember someone on CBS actually saying that)

If LSU had won the second game I wonder how the media would have spun it. Its like everyone forgot the first game. I have actually had people tell me that the first game didn't count.

This. What a terrible play call that handed Alabama another national championship

LOL.
No, not FOUR, but EIGHT.
I love the literal double standard.

The media would have then lamented on the fact that LSU had already beaten Bama at Bama, so beating them in NOLA wasn't that big of a deal. They would have then focused on what other team should have gone, and how they would have beaten LSU.

Yes. And the world would be a lot different today.

Thank the Honey Badger for at least 2 of those wins, maybe 3.

It has been a slow and painful decline since! Losing record in Novemeber since is the perfect example Miles Lovers!

Eight quarters of film is relevant here as you still have people arguing which was the better team. Alabama proved to most people's satisfaction that they were a good bit better at the end of the day.

They lost to IOWA STATE and went on to lose their bowl game. They were good, but a different class then LSU and Alabama. Trying to argue they were top 2 in retrospect is as silly as Alabama arguing we were better then Auburn and FSU in 2013 after losing the "kick 6" game as we were closing in on a 3 peat otherwise.

I love how Iowa St suddenly became the worst team of all time. No, that was not a quality loss and Iowa St wasn't a good team, but they did finish 6-7 on the year and weren't the worst team in the Big 12.

False. They went on to beat Stanford and finished the season 12-1 and Big 12 Champion.
Going into the mulligan game, Okie had a better record and stronger strength of schedule. Bama's best achievement was whipping Ark and that glorious loss to LSU. For some reason, quality of loss became more important than quality of wins. Only for Bama.
Applying the Bama eye test standard and it's Ohio St-Michigan in a 2006 rematch. And probably Ohio St-Georgia in 2007.

Sorry, I was confusing that 2006 Michigan team with that OK. State team re. losing the bowl game. Regardless, I'm not sure you really want to argue that 2006 Florida or 2011 Alabama weren't the right choice to be in a final 2.
