Planning on fishing Leeville this weekend

With the opening of the 2nd split this weekend, would I run into any trouble launching my kayak at the public launch and going east into the marsh a bit? Never fished there before, other than bowfishing.

stay in the kayak launch and don't take up any space using the "real" launch, if you know what I mean.
the lease I hunt is north of there across from bobby lynns and we've had to run a few kayakers and a few boats winter fishing in there, but I don't know who owns the property to the east of the launch.
edit: nevermind, the people who own I think its allied shipyard have that property in between lake jesse and bayou Lafourche up to the canal that's across from bobby lyns. last time I was that way all the canals were blocked off with pilings and gates, but its been a while. fishing lake jesse you should be fine or fishing south of the east-west canal you're good

BCKFC is holding a 125 kayak event from the public launch on January 16th. Is that still going to be during hunting season in that area? If so, would you be willing to sketch me a map of your lease so I can help spread the word of areas to be cautious around. Most of us know how to play nice during hunting season.

ends on the 17th for the coastal zone.
we're way far north, like a half hour boat ride and that's from bobby lynns with crossing a good bit of water, I doubt anyone makes it that far
the only time we ran someone off it was in the late afternoon, I can only imagine how much of a bitch of a paddle that was
other lease is to the west north of little lake.

Still trying to decide between Leeville and Delacroix, both are about the same distance for me.

If you go east there is public land. Just stay in the southwestern canal. Everything north of the canal is private, public land is south of the canal. the broken marsh starts around south lake. You can fish the canal to the west, just don't leave the canal until you get to Little Lake or Hackberry Bay. There is no public fishing to the north of the southwestern canal. None. Nada. The LPSO does not make a habit of writing tickets but it seems like after the launch was built the Leeville folks have been a little on edge.
I use to have pictures of the map from the state lands office of the Leeville area. I'll dig around and see if I can find it and get get it posted.
Kind of a weird spot to have a kayak tournament considering it's a half hour or better paddle to public land and you have to drive past a WMA to get there.

What day will you be there? I've got Christmas parties tonight and Saturday night but will be there Sunday morning.

Dang that is quite a haul to get to public land out of the public launch. Might go a little further north to Golden Meadow instead of Leeville.
Planning on being there Saturday, but Sunday may be an option too since the weather is crappy the rest of the week.

Pretty sure all of GM is private, but only enforced during duck season
AYC has good yak locations on GM

Thinking of trying Golden Meadow too this weekend. Most likely Sunday. It's been too long.
Is Bason's the best/only place to launch? I've launched once from Bason's and other than that trip have no experience there. Is it a lot of duck hunters around there too? Not asking for anyone's honey hole, but if anybody has a general area to go that is productive and accessible with a yak (and not private) it would be appreciated.

bessons is cut off, not GM. and yes, unless your heading to the WMA, there will be a metric shite ton of duck hunters behind there and behind GM.
that being said, south of the gm park launch and north are where the duck blinds and hunters are.

Suggestion to go east or west from the Leeville launch? I've gone east but never went past the rocks before Lake Jesse.

Let me check the wind. I don't fish on a west wind, so if its a west wind I suggest east.

BCKFC has a great relationship with pretty much the entire town of Leeville. They hold several events in Leeville each year that bring in hundreds of anglers for several days at a time. I also think it helps that we generally don't occupy the same waters as the charter captains and camp owners do. It's a very symbiotic relationship for a town that's basically struggling to survive.

It's really not too bad. Doesn't matter anyway if you stay on the WMA. If you paddle up on a decoy set just go to the next pond but most of the duck hunters are out of paddle range.
I would skip the Leeville launch and go launch on the north side of HWY 1.

little strip of land that separates that and little lake, and the north side of little lake.
