I am all for supporting Baton Rouge business, and I try to get their milk when I can, but good god how are they still in business?? Their milk is exhorbitantly expensive and tastes no better or worse than Borden. A gallon of Kleinpeter milk is $6.49 right now. Unreal.

Do they source their own milk still or is it shipped in from everywhere?

No clue, but they are crazy if they think people are going to pay twice as much for their milk.

I stopped buying a couple years back when they had QC issues and their expensive milk soured in a day or two.

All of their milk comes from their farm on Highway 16 in Montpelier before you get to Amite.

I will mix my quart of Kleinpeter Eggnog with my quart of Kleinpeter chocolate milk, have a glass and go into a sugar coma later this evening.

I buy their milk about half the time. I buy Feliciana's Best Creamery Cream Line milk and butter. The milk is pasteurized but not homogenized so the cream rises to the top. I prefer it. They are in Slaughter and it is from their cows. Alexanders and Calandros carry it.

I bought this once, was jacked about trying it.

My wife opened it and saw the cream, figured it was bad and threw it out.

Shake it back in. I like to spoon it out, mix a bit of sugar with it and put it over strawberries.

I did the same thing when I bought it. I didn't know it was supposed to do that.

My dad buys it and loves it.

I like Smith Creamery and they have great butter. People bash on Kleinpeter Dairy but forget when Smith Creamery blew up, Kleinpeter processed their milk for them so they could rebuild and not go out of business. And I know for a fact they did it for direct cost with no markup, so I admire them for that and helping a fellow competitor stay in business.

Shopping is usually the woman's job.

Also, haven't seen any in NOLA. Going up to God's country this weekend so I will look for some.

I did the same thing as Martini for a long time. I live 2+ hours away from BR. I supported them because of their support for Smith. Milk got so it was either sour when I purchased it or very soon thereafter. Finally just stopped buying because of this. It used to be excellent. I wish we could buy Smith's or Feliciana here.

Yep, I was a longtime buyer of Kleinpeter. Switched to Horizon when they all those quality issues. I still buy the cream, half and half, @ French Onion dip though. I want to support them.
