Anyone know the latest on android pay?

After they split google wallet into google wallet and android pay i couldn't NFC pay anymore since i had Chase (technically you still could but it was kind of a pain).
I just decided to turn it off until Chase supported Android pay. But then Chase decided to go with Chase Pay. Does anyone know if that means they won't be supporting Android pay?

What? I have chase and use android pay every day. I just added my card in 30 seconds at the beginning and never had an issue.

Looks like that won't happen until next year sometime...
Android Police article
But Samsung Pay had the same issue with Chase right out of the gate. But in Nov. Chase support was added and all is well. Samsung pay is awesome. I use it everyday. Not just NFC, but actually passes a signal to the magnet stripe reader for old style point of sale swipers.
Really nice and easy to use.

I guess I made it in then. I could have sworn I added my card after that though.

That is cool tech. Too bad I don't buy another phone from them.

You can kind of use it still but not the way it's supposed to be used.
Until chase supports it I think you have to do it the way Google wallet did it (phone up to the terminal twice and putting a passcode in).

In my esteemed opinion banks are being stupid here. Even Capital One, who said they would support Android Pay and was on the site as coming soon from day 1, still hasn't gotten on board and they now have their own mobile pay app as well.
I think these banks think they should control the technology as well as the money. Their first thought was these mobile pay things would never take off.....they did and now the stupid banks want total control. If they approve of the security, which obviously at least Cap One did I assume, they should let the tech companies deal with the technology and they should concentrate on controlling the money and banking functions.

Yeah i have no desire to use chase pay. I just want to use android pay.
I'm not to the point where i'll switch banks because of it, but if i lived in California or somewhere where android pay was more prevalent i might actually consider it (as much of a pain as it is to switch banks).

It notified me today that my chase card is now eligible for Android pay. So I guess all you need to do is hold it up to the thing now, brat.

Yeah I've been using it for about a month now. Works way faster than a chipped credit card.

Nothing extra to do besides unlock it?

You have to set your card up initially. I only have 1 card set up. Not really sure how it works if you set up more than 1. I know you can probably make one a default but not really sure how you'd use your second card if you wanted to.
But again I only have 1 set up. You unlock the phone, put it near the reader, it will vibrate and the app will open and you see a little checkmark showing it went through. It does this incredibly quick too.

Also it had my card info already because I used to use Google wallet. But I still had to go through a setup/verification process. Think they send you an email or something and you have to open the email and verify.

Yeah I set the card up already today. Just haven't used it yet. Guess I'll give it a shot

The biggest worry is it not working and the old timer behind you giving you the look at this dork look. This happened once at CVS because the woman said they never set the sensor up.
But frick a chip. The length of time it takes plus half the stores don't use it and ask you to swipe instead. It's a mess.

I started using it when I can. Pretty sweet stuff. It's very quick, much quicker than the damn chip on cards.

I had to still choose debit or credit and enter my pin on the reader at trader Joe's. Do you have to do that everywhere?
