Interesting statistic on Gerry Dinardo teams

1997 team (10-2) and 1998 team (4-7) put 40 guys in the NFL!!!! We've never had issues with talent and its amazing how we have so many excuses regarding production on the field. I remember how crazy we were when Dinardo won 7 games in 1996 and went to the Shreveport bowl. He did that with over 40 guys who would play in the league. Talk about underachieving. It's the same story with Les right now. We'll have an astronomical amount of guys in the pros and look back and say how did we go 8-5.

Lou Tepper had the best BBQ recipe ever.
check out that 2000 roster that Saban inherited. anyone who says he walked into an empty cupboard is an idiot
well...first, Miles has never had a losing season. Second, he's won less than 10 games only 3 times yet you guys keep throwing out this 8 number like its the norm. stop lying

I will say that this board is in a funk, the likes of which I have not seen for quite a while.

you got the years, bowls and records mismatched a bit. the excitement over getting to Shreveport in 95 was warranted given how the decade had been to that point. Gerry had the program pointed in the right direction til the wheels came off.
respect that fence-building, baw!

Don't tell this to the Saban nutgobblers who still swear there was not a single SEC worthy player to play at LSU before Saban started recruiting here.

Its comical...all you hear from these kids is "well if you are happy with 8 or 9 wins...". He has had 3 out of 10 years....and 2 of them were in 2008 and 2009....idiots.

And just a point that no one talks about with CGD, that 1998 squad had a but load of critical injuries and virtually every game was a dog fight. The amount of bad beats we suffered was staggering. Talk about unlucky.
1999 also had a slew of injuries but the D was horrible and he lost the team.
Saban didn’t walk into a sleeping giant, he walked into a wakened giant that was rubbing the sleep out of its eyes.

we haven't had a truly "happy" offseason since 2010 going into 2011, people are worn out and rightfully so.

Yeah, I guess. However, I feel like there is always a little optimistic talk going on, even after some disappointing season endings. Maybe a little talk about the bowl game, even if we're not happy about the bowl that we're going to. I don't get that sense this season.
Maybe I'm projecting my own feelings. I know I am definitely worn out.

I think the difference is the realization by most that absolutely nothing is going to change next season. That was a minority position in previous years.

Doesn't matter anymore. Les's run has come to an end. Bottom line. Time to move on

ton of talent on his teams
the problem was
a. Tepper
b. I cant recall the number now, but by end of 99 season, didnt we only have like 60 guys left on scholarship after arrests, flunked out...

are you saying that the Shady's incident was a happy offseason?
I liked JLee starting too, but the offseason was anything but happy.

Just a little education because you have some wildly inaccurate statements in there.
LSU went 10-2 in 1996 and went to the Peach bowl.
In 1995 we went to the Independence bowl and ended up 7-4-1 and kicked Nick Sabans arse 45-26.
In 1997 we ended up 9-3 and number 13 and went to the independace bowl.
There were 18 bowls in 95 and 96, 20 bowls in the 97 post season. There are 40 now.
Going to a bowl meant something then. Every matchup just about was between ranked teams. If it was not ranked teams then they were ranked after a winner was decided.

The table was set for Saban.

But it won't be. By F King and Alleva not taking action and their mishandling of Miles which has undercut his recruiting, LSU will become more talent barren in the future.
In other words the long they wait for a new coach, the less talent on the team.
