What

Tulane is in a better conference, has better facilities, and pays probably triple what Ga South does.

Don't fool yourself.

Fritz isn't going to stop until he gets a P5 job.

Well duh.

I was just saying it's better than GSU. It's not a Big 12 job or something.

Number 1 on the agenda - Go offer and get commitment from QB at Zachary.

Here's what your offense is gonna look like next year Tulane. I might get season tickets. Not triple option at all.

Yes, but they're 1-A for the second year, and have gone 14-2 in the Sun Belt since joining. They're bowl-eligible this season, again, and have tremendous fan support.

I'm not knocking Tulane, at all. But Southern has the opportunity (especially so long as Tech keeps dicking around with a guy who doesn't like to recruit), to become the second-best program in the state of Georgia, if they aren't already there. That's a big opportunity for someone.

Happy for Fritz, and glad that Tulane is happy with him. Just surprised that he made what appears, from the outside, a lateral move.

Why is that? The school has plenty of football tradition, and their grads are very proud of the program. I wonder why it is that they don't pay well enough. Genuinely surprising.

It isn't even close to a lateral move. It's a large step up.

You obviously have some emotional attachment to GSU.

No, I really don't. I know some people who went to school there, but nothing more than passing acquaintances. I have family who went to Tulane.

Physically, I'm closer to Southern, but that's about it.

their athletic department doesnt make the same kind of money or garner the same amount of donations that schools in better conferences do.

they've only been in FBS for two years and the Sun Belt is easily the conference on the lowest rung of the football totem pole.

Great hire for Tulane. I believe this shows that Tulane is serious about their commitment to football.

As for Fritz, I think he takes this because its a no lose situation. If he doesn't win, then it'll set him back, but its not a career killer because no one expects too much out of Tulane. If he starts winning, he's a P5 shoo-in.

Yes thank you I am well aware of out football tradition. But Fritz was making about 600K for coaching at Southern and I'm sure Tulame will raise him to over the 1mill mark.

I'm not knocking Willie because he took the job. I was really excited about what he had started at Southern. I mean he lost only 2 SBC in and won the conference in the first year.

So until GSU ponies up some cash we will continue to be in this situation every 2-3 years.

No law or medical school for one. School teachers and nurses aren't known for their football philanthropy. The football program is relatively young (33 yrs old ) so the facilities mirror a lack of longevity. With that being said , I can only think of 4 of 33 seasons Tulane was capable of beating GSU.
