Meanwhile, I've seen Saban and Urban Meyer and many other coaches give very substantive interviews over the years.

Can you link or describe the substance you are talking about?

I would deem that very generalized football talk. 10,000 foot level observations and/or admission. Not x's and o's.

i was paraphrasing for you jackass.

Do us a favor since you made the comparison. Find us some substantive X's and O's interviews with Nick.

I'm wondering how many of the so called "fans" would understand it if he did.

Go to YouTube and watch his old coaches show videos from Oklahoma State. He breaks down film

I've seen it. That was your typical show where a coach makes passing comments on plays, and they roll through the game pretty fast. You'll get more substantive information on specifics from that than anything I've heard from him since he has been with LSU, but he wasn't breaking down film.

Sure. I have heard Saban talk technical many times. Here is a quick find from Youtube on Saban

What deliberately insulting question(s) would you ask Miles if given the chance? I'd start with "Coach, do you agree that the purpose of an offense is to score points?"

I'm pretty sure Miles could switch the blocking techniques vs 1 and 5 tech without 99.5% of tRant noticing.

i've never seen Saban give a substantive interview....Meyer perhaps.

I used to listen to Saban interviews because there was a chance to learn something. I will give an example:

Last night we were discussing the 2001 season and someone mentioned that the LSU team got "booed off the field at halftime of the Ole Miss game". I remember that game, and I remember why people were booing. LSU was down points at the end of the first half with the ball. We decided to not try and score and ran the ball a couple of plays. In fact, Ole Miss called a timeout and we had to punt with a few seconds left and they blocked the punt and extended their lead. The crowd was booing Nick Saban at halftime. I remember his press conference on that Monday explaining why he chose to not push the ball upfield on that possession. His quarterback was struggling and the field position was bad. We were only down 3 points so he felt that by being conservative, they would have a chance to get into halftime and settle the team down and have a strong second half. LSU did have a strong second half offensively, but lost due to the points from the blocked punt. However, I felt like I learned a little something from that press conference.

What I learned from listening to Saban's post game comments is that when he had a lead, he liked to slow things down. He called it "taking the air out of the ball".

Yes....
"You place the first X in the top right corner, then try to defend against the O's to effectively string together three consecutive Xs in a row, either vertically, horizontally, or diagonally, to achieve victory".

In terms of blocking, how would you say LSU players have developed with Miles? (I'm mainly talking about OL and TEs.)

I think our tight ends under Miles have turned out to be phenomenal blockers. The O-line has been disappointing though historically under Les.

How much detail can he actually go in to on toss dive right, toss dive left, go route and an occasional jet sweep.

I agree that a lot of the TEs have been really good (There are some exceptions. This season, for instance.), but I don't think they've developed very well.

For example, Dillon Gordon was a top-notch blocker from the get-go. Great size and power as a freshman.

Number of TEs signed by Miles that have been drafted - 0.

Yep. But sometimes coaches evolve with the times. Opposing offenses are much better at scoring quickly than they may have been 12-15 years ago. The best coaches have adapted philosophically.
