That is still the greatest LSU game I have been too. We weren't even expected to win the West much less beat the Vols that night. I remember the excitement leading up to that game and afterwards and the Georgia Dome was electric that night. This game propelled us to the success we have encountered the last 15 years.

you didn't answer my question....am i wrong or did we not get our arse kicked by Ole Miss that year (and Florida)?

why do you never answer questions? you refuse to acknowledge there is ever anything wrong, all you are ever able to do is attack posters who don't bow down and worship at the alter of Miles like you do.

they got better as the season went on, the sign of a well coached team, we haven't seen that much lately

well unfortunately we're no longer playing the easy West that we had in the early 2000s where we could win the West with 3 losses.....or Miles would have a few more titles under his belt

Well I guess that doesn't really help with the point the OP was trying to make because this year's team is very young also

Do you not how ridiculous it is to compare what Saban was able to do in year 2, taking over a team that had won a combined, i think, 7 games in two years before he got there, with the seasons that Miles is churning out lately in year fricking 11? Miles has done great things at LSU, i have never been his biggest fan because of his quirkiness and some boneheaded blunders over the years..but you cant deny he has done great things...but his time has passed and LSU is falling behind other teams in the SEC, if you cant see that then i dont know what to tell you.

Dear S,
No matter how much you love and miss your ex-coachfriend Saban, he left you for Miami. I know it's hard but you need to move on with your life.

Saban didn't walk into a bare cupboard like some would like everyone to believe. feel free to check out that 2000 roster.

Sooo, what you're saying is we need everyone else to stop being good and start sucking for us to be good?... Well that sucks.

This thread wasn't about him. It was about that team and the general state of the program and the path it was on.

Heres to another Miles maniac bringing up saban

You either don't understand the argument or you are pretending you don't understand the argument. Simply put, you can't claim 2001 was the 'good ole days' and today's version of LSU sucks, without taking into account the 2001 team lost 3 games (same as this year) and did so in a division that was far easier to navigate than today's.

I never said that.

Simply put, he said Miles would have a few more titles under his belt had this been early 2000's... Well its not the early 2000's, and we aren't winning any Championships... So do we have to wait for everyone to have down years in order to win the West?

I understand this is a tougher conference all around than back then, but this year the SEC was pretty down as well. The teams that were good back then are down now, and the teams that weren't so good back then are up now... LSU has no business being in the middle of the pack this year after our recruiting classes, having the highest paid coaches in the nation, and arguably the best college player in football.

Even you have to admit that.

I understand your point, but disagree with your assertion (i.e. Saban's teams were better than Miles' teams and this 2001 edition is further proof of that). Perhaps this was not your intended premise, but it came across that way to me.

My point was, and is, that this Saban team, which so many want to hail as proof that Saban had better teams than Miles, was not any better than Miles' teams. The 2001 edition of LSU football simply did not have near as much divisional competition to overcome. Had today's team played under similar circumstances they may have only had 1 or 2 losses instead of 3 (conjecture on my part?....sure, but I certainly think it can be reasonably argued).
