IYAM it encourages loafing by the customers. Conduct your transaction crisply, and go find a starbucks.

I consider it a nice gesture by businesses who know that people will have to wait. It's a perk like offering free wifi. It helps customers to feel more valued when they have to wait for service.

My first BMW dealership in Tacoma, Washington had a whole setup. Coffee, water, soda, snacks, etc. The one I go to Alexandria, Va is much more stingy, though it's a more affluent area. Damned recession ruined everything.

It's little things like that, that customers appreceate. I hope you're not a business consultant.

It's blatant socialism and it needs to be outlawed.

As someone who has been in banking for years, people, it's free coffee with creamer, sugar, and 2 or 3 sugar substitute options.
Don't get angry when the coffee pot isn't fresh brewed at 4pm near closing or that branch doesn't have flavored liquid creamer or bigger to go cups. It's a a bank, not a GD starbucks.

Brian Harris Audi has the best coffee set-up/free snack stand I've ever seen at a business...
Since we're talking about cars you know.

The dealership I would take my truck in for service would have coffee and Shipley's donuts all the time. I appreciated it.

It promotes a friendly and accommodating atmosphere. Providing basic refreshments is simply a friendly, decent, and human thing to do. Treating your customers impersonally and without dignity is not equivalent to professionalism.
