Hypo: How would committee handle the SEC situation w/ Ole Miss

Hypothetical: Ole Miss doesn't blow the game against Arkansas (4th and 25 hail lateral), Ole Miss would be going to Atlanta to play Florida for rematch at 10-2 (losses to Florida and Memphis)
Would Ole Miss be in the playoff picture at all? An 11-2 conference champion completely left out over a non-SEC champ they beat in the regular season?
ETA: I think it could've started a huge national conversation about the elimination of conference championship games because a lot of people would be asking "what's the point?"
If you have a committee determining the best teams, what's the point of having these end of the season games to crown conference champions that are only based on standings and not full body of work?
ETA 2: Let's add to the absurdity of "conference championships" in the Playoff Committee era.
You could argue the other side and say Bama is actually getting penalized thanks to the "hail lateral" play because if Ole Miss wins that game, Bama is already a playoff lock. Now they have to go to Atlanta and beat Florida, and if they don't they are out of the playoffs completely
ETA 3: ESPN article about this scenario posted today LINK

Why would 10-2 Ole Miss be in the SEC title game over 11-1 Bama?

Non conference loss (Memphis)

because they beat bama and would have same conference record...

1 of Ole Miss' losses was to an OOC opponent.

Good question. Really hard to say. I would see the arguments on both sides. One of those scenarios is worse case for playoff committee. Same as some scenarios that were possible with the BCS from time to time.
Eventually one will happen like that. But there is always a worse case scenario for something that is opinion driven and not truly record driven like the major league sports are.

1 loss Ohio State would be a possibility over a 2 loss SEC champ. Would have been interesting.

SEC Champs. Do not make Playoff. Get blown out in Big6 Bowl.

You mean Alabama would get in ahead of the SEC champ that beat them in the regular season?
Never happen.
Oh, wait........

Have you not paid attention to the media. Alabama is still undefeated because when you beat yourself it technically isn't considered a loss.
Joey Galloway is about the only person I have seen in the media give Ole Miss credit for beating Alabama.

How would the committee handle it? They'd send Alabama and wouldn't think twice about it

Not only would I place a one-loss Bama over Ole Miss, I would put a one-loss Ohio State and Clemson team over them as well. Just because a team won their conference shouldn't grant them an automatic berth in the playoffs. Same thing applies with Stanford. I'm sorry but they don't deserve a shot over a one-loss Ohio State or Clemson. Stanford will have two losses against teams that are ranked lower than Michigan State or North Carolina. Why do they deserve to be in the playoffs over those two teams?

I agree with all of this and that's sort of my point. Not saying Bama wouldn't deserve to get in, they definitely still should.
It just would've been the exact scenario that would've proved how stupid conference championship games are.
You'd have an SEC "Champion" not even in the playoffs, and an SEC team they beat as one of the best 4 and very well could be a National Champion. It would've been absurd (even though I know this is all hypothetical and none of this happened )

CCG would be irrelevant. Both division winners would have two losses and a runner up would have 1 loss. The question would be over how to address nonconference games and the fact that teams in the same division have radically different OOC schedules.
The committee seems to put a lot of weight on conference champions, and I agree with them. If you didn't win your conference, then you didn't take care of business on the field. Tough cookies.

So when LSU got in over Georgia in 2007, the argument was "Georgia didn't even win their own division".
So people are talking about Bama over Ole Miss (hypothetical) because "Bama is better and conference championships don't matter"? Show some consistency.
