The parents of a 16-year-old Georgia teen who tragically died from his injuries after he fell from a moving Jeep denied he was car surfing.

Alex Desalis suffered extensive brain injuries and two punctured lungs after he fell off the hood of his friend's Jeep Wrangler on Saturday.

Kenneth Guthrie said his son had jokingly asked his friend for a ride to a cemetary just down the road before the accident.

'It wasn't a car surfing adventure,' he told WTSP.

'It was him climbing up on the hood of her car, on all fours more than likely being funny, trying to get a laugh by twerking.'

Michelle Guthrie said her son fell off the hood of the car on his head and was partially run over.

'It was instantaneous,' Guthrie told the Atlanta Journal Constitution. 'He felt no pain.'

Alex was on life support at Grady Memorial Hospital when Guthrie decided to let her youngest child go 'peacefully'.

'He was already gone,' the devastated mother said. 'I knew in my heart he was gone.'
