Taking the recent "bad news" on Fisher with a grain of salt

I'm not an insider at all on this situation, but if we are to believe that the LSU boosters made overtures to Fisher's camp, and that they were, if not accepted, at least well received (as is widely assumed), that Sexton would do whatever if takes to get us as desperate as possible. LSU is in somewhat of a tight spot right now. Retaining Miles or fricking this up in some other manner would be a nightmare scenario. We have already taken a pretty big PR hit.
I believe Jimbo probably wants to come here, but he's also in a pretty solid situation as it is. The ball seems to be purely in Sexton's court at this point. His incentive is obviously to make LSU pay a shitload or drive up the price for FSU/perceived value of Jimbo long-term, so he's going to posture as much as possible. I had a feeling that we would get nothing but "bad news" until an announcement was made either way. There's no way this was going to be easy.
The above is nothing but sheer conjecture in reading the smoke. I'm not saying he's a lock but I'm also not going to jump off the ledge until we hear something more concrete.

Jimbo may have backed out like Les did with Michigan a few years ago.

I'm standing on the ledge with my member on the chopping block

It never made sense to me why Jimbo would make the move in the first place, so I'm buying the Sexton got him an FSU raise theory on sheer common sense.

Miles was never going to Michigan

Definitely possible. His divorce may very well also complicate matters.

If it would not have been reported by Herbie before the BCS game, he would have been gone.

No.
He is his agent. He does what JIMBO wants to do. He doesn't own Jimbo. If Jimbo wants to come to LSU, he's here. If he doesn't, he's at FSU. All Sexton does is max his contract out. Nothing more, nothing less.

Let's just agree to disagree. He had a tentative deal, but backed out after Herbsreit outed him.
