So it's not a done deal like so many have been saying? If we get Jimbo I'll be elated. It is an upgrade in my opinion.

My biggest concern is that this is playing out just like Saban to Texas. Everyone has a source, everyone has specific details, and everyone has a caveat. I hope it's true but the amount of info out there makes me nervous because it's almost never what everyone thinks it is.

There is a shitload more smoke here than Saban to Texas and if it was a pure money play to get Jimbo a pay raise, I think you would see more mainstream media speculation on ESPN and the like to put the heat on FSU to get out their checkbook.

At this point I just want to get the season over with so this matter can be settled. I'm sure LSU is trying to get Jimbo. If it falls through there'll be massive disappointment in the fanbase and a total malaise about next year. Would be bad, even though LSU hasn't even made any official statements at all.

I agree with this.
I also think the fact that Alleva has gone silent is the biggest sign right now that something is going on/has happened.
If there was nothing going on regarding the coaching search, then it would be relatively easy to come out and answer media questions honestly.
"Will Miles be coaching his last game on Saturday?"
-We will evaluate Coach at the end of the season like we always have, no decisions have been made at this time.
"Are you looking for another coach?"
-No, we have coach Miles.
That said, if there is already a deal in place, and he comes out and answers those two questions the same way, and then announces Jimbo on Monday, then he comes off as a liar and a snake for real.
Alleva is a smart guy, and I'm sure he's getting some advice from some very smart people to remain quiet...until it's time to talk.
