To chop and split wood on?

You could easily find that in a new construction neighborhood.
tell them the OB said it was OK.

Come cut down the oak in my front yard. You can keep the trunk, and split all the wood.

Is the ground not good enough for the wood that you are planning on splitting?

Not really, I want to be able to also chop smaller pieces with a hatchet into certain lengths. Just kind of a fire pit work top.

How about a block live oak? Try calling some tree companines, they'd probably give it to you.

THIS.
When I lived at home I know I averaged more chops with an axe or splitting maul on ground than once we had the metal plate on the ground. We got part of a fifth wheel plate to put on the ground to split on....it worked great as a "backstop".

Where u located? My friend in Lafayette just cut one down and it's laying in pieces in her front yd. I'm pretty positive you can come take what u want

Metal will dull your maul bro. I'll usually just use a chunk from the tree we're cutting and splitting, then split the last chunk when I'm wrapping up.

Abita Springs, a little too far. Thanks though

I split about 20 logs the other day, and had to keep moving all around the yard or it'll make a big hole
I ended up doing it on a piece of 3/4 plywood

Has anyone said from an oak tree yet?
Because if not, you can get one from an oak tree.

You talking chunks or like tree-length logs bro - just sizing you up is all.

OP got no time for this smartassery man.

Ok, I'll revise. Anyone know where I can get an oak tree from? I obviously don't want to cut any of my big oaks and don't see cutting someone else's down. I also don't want to go just cut an oak tree down in the woods for a 24" chunk. What about...you know what, never mind...

Wood that we was splitting then was green. Maul nor wedges never made it to the plate.
Dull the maul? LOL...more like roll the edge and then I'd be looking for the grinder.
The next year we built the ram/splitter that we mounted on the tractor using the hydros from it. Lots easier.
