I have a beaver problem

I have at least two Beavers on a piece of property and they frickinh suck. Every dam I tear down they build another in a week. It floods about 15 acres which isn't a big deal till we get a decent rain then it makes most the propert inaccessible.
I have some steel traps (not sure what size but they are recommended size for coyotes). I was told to make a small pedastal and put it in the water with some debris covering the trap on it and they will crawl up there and get caught. Not sure if it will work. I also found a small narrow spot and put a snare where they are traveling under a log.
Does anyone else have suggestions on how to get rid of them? I don't want to have to sit out there all night waiting with a .22 but that may be my only option.

Trapping and shooting them is the best you can do. Buy a bunch of tannerite and blow up the dam. See if they rebuild after that.

Blow some shite up & see what happens.

330 conibear, you can make a dam set which is pretty easy. Another productive set is at the hut or bank den. I'm no trapper and can catch them. Search YouTube for some how to vids. They're our hogs before we had hogs, now we have both. Just be careful if you've never messed with 330's, they will hurt you.

This is how we got rid of a dam awhile back. LINK
Not sure if they rebuilt or not but we sure made the best of a bad situation.
Btw....the video shows no justice.

We used to blast dams with the real deal, they don't care, will build it back the next few rains IMO. Only way to control is via death. We've shot them at night, etc., trapping is best IMO. One thing that did help was drought.

Watch Duck Gynostars, they deal with them often...

That sounds like more of an opportunity than a problem.

Not going to do any good till one kills those SOB's.

This. OP, you in Louisiana? If so, each parish has someone that the parish pays to trap beavers thru the police jury. Check into that.

I've heard that if you take long sections of pvc and lay it in the hole after you tear down the dam works. They rebuild over the pvc, not realizing that it is continually draining the pond. Eventually they just leave.
Not sure if that makes sence. It's early.

330 conibear and some decent lure. Look up slide sets, channel sets and castor mounds.
I'm not an awesome trapper by any means but I have caught 75 or so a few years. If you have specific questions let me know.

The PVC device is called a Clemson Leveler.

My family has dealt with them for centuries.
Put out traps for them and blow up the dams.

Would 220s work? I have access to some of them but think they may be too small

I think the narrower jaw spread would make it tough.

Whatever you do, don't buy it a ring and fiddle with it too much. It won't leave.

I've caught them in 220s. I don't recommend using them. Much tougher learning curve.
